crank installed and torqued down. I used the shop manual method. I couldn't find the actual torque specs for these.

86mm tapered ring compressors are the business. Super easy, never using the screw type ones again

I’m really enjoying the DIY and step by step of this build. The non-VVTi components are able to hold a lot of power. I’m considering building a VVTi GE and swapping the non-VVTi rods / pistons.

Thank you! I got lucky that its non-vvti already. I've been seeing alot of vvti ge motors at the yard lately.

The block is fairly complete just need to seal up the upper and lower pan. Now I can make some moves on the head. Here it is after resurfacing and cleaning.

Heres some 3 hour progress on lapping the valves by hand. My valves are not clean so the suction cup tool thing couldn't stick for so long so I used another method that worked quite well for me. I put a vacuum hose on the stem and lapped it by pulling and rotating back and forth versus using the lapper tool and pushing against the valve. Left side is lapped, you can see some pitting on the right seats.

Comparison bottom left vs. bottom right.

Comparison top vs bottom seat

Removed old valve stem seals

You get the picture

Installed new Power Division valve stem seals

Update: Feb 2, 1019

Been busy with work and school here's some work that's been done so far.

ARPARPARPARPARPARPARPARPARPARPARPARP

Arp head studs installed hand tight

Mated the block and head finally with the GTE head gasket

Mock up of the Treadstone bottom mount manifold that's been ceramic coated by sound performance

I bought this greddy knockoff, but still undecided on fabbing it or getting something else. Currently it has the gte runners welded to them (held on by 2 bolts), and if you're wondering, no they do not fit on the ge head. Im gonna get an estimate on welding the Ge runners, iacv flange, etc.. stay tuned

Removed head and bottom end. Hardware is bagged and tagged, parts are separated and organized.

Main and rod bearings were in excellent condition still, no gouges or scratches which means the oil was maintained and properly serviced. Looking good so far! Crank is stored in the upright position until it's dropped off at the machine shop. I called a local shop and was quoted $500 for head/block resurface(for mls head gasket), cylinder honing, crank micro-polishing, crank and rod clearance inspection, and parts bath.

Removed cams, buckets, and valve springs. Again, keeping everything in order to make reassembly easy.
I guess it is time for business judging by those tequila shots. LOL

Update: Apr 13, 2019

So I was quoted $600 to cut and weld the greddy knock off plenum to the NA runners. I did some research and found a brand new TIG welded GE plenum for $550 shipped. It comes ceramic painted, throttle body and fuel rail plus the fittings. Yeah.. I sold the greddy plenum lol. I made $250 from it and added another $250 for the new plenum! Im impressed with the welds and aluminum construction. If you're wondering, yes it is from ebay but I'll let you judge the pics. Im certain it can handle 400hp Haters can hate lol. In the end I saved a couple hundred bucks because this came with the Idle air control valve flange($50) and throttle position sensor adapter($70) + shipping and fab work.

Ceramic black with 90mm TB, a little over kill and I still wish I could use my q45 TB because I read its smooth.

Smooth runner ports (phone image)

Taaa Daaa! Like a glove and its also lighter. Scroll up for the greddy plenum comparison.^
