Default My 06 is250 is it worth saving? Please help?

Hello guys I need some help in deciding on what to do.. i own a 2006 is250 awd automatic and it only has 150,xxx miles on it and my motor is shot.. I bought this car with 98,000 miles on it still owe 9grand on the car and now I need a new motor. I run strictly mobile 1 in my motors and change every 5k miles. I have just put new tires on it and drilled and slotted rotors and brakepads I know isn't a whole lot but still.. I dont know if i should purchase a used motor and slap in it or just part the car out and try to get some of my money back? I know alot of ppl on here are looking to soup up these cars... so what do I do I would be willing to sell if price was right car is in great shape body wise and interior is in great shape also except for the leather on steering wheel is tore.Whoever owned car prior to me could not park a car along a curb to save their life.

here is what the oil looks like outta my lexy along with all the shaving makes me wanna cry I love my car and this is very aggrivating

Sorry to hear about the motor eating up itself.

Taking into account everything you sad, personally I'd choke up the funds for a good, replacement motor. Check out your local junk/parts yards and even ebay/Craigslist.

Glad you decided to keep her! Please do update us on the process. Also what price did you get the motor for and whats labor? I don't wish this on anyone including myself but just incase, knock on wood... I would like to know the estimated cost of a motor replacement.

Well I paid $899 for the used motor with 63k miles on it. it is being shipped atm.. shipping was free I found it at sircarpart.com place outta florida.. I would install it myself but I am not ase. Certified and would void the 3yr warranty it comes with... so I'm having it shipped to my good friend that owns his own auto repair shop.. his shop rate is $75hr
so just a rough guess he quoted me 1800 maybe less for parts n labor that's new gaskets n stuff...that's all I have for now..

Default Finally an update guys!!!

so here she is... this is after I just got it outta the body shop because i hit a dog shortly after i got it back running 80mph... it was bad.. had to replace all plastic on front new radiator new fans.. I went ahead and had new headlights put in and had him buff out a couple of scratches in the car.. so after the insurance claim 5grand btw.. it's all back together.. I still do not know y the other motor ate itself.. I'm gonna tear it down and rebuild it sometime when I have extra money and time to do so...and then I'll have another backup motor.. all in all after new used motor was installed it was 2500 plus some new parts I had put on motor... I'm happy with it all runs great and looks new again

Was the 2500 for the motor and installation? If just install, super yikes. I can see quite a few 4gr-fse's on eBay going for 7-1000 with shipping with fairly low miles (even 2014's from the 3IS which are swappable into the 2IS's with no issues)
