I am looking to procure Gas Tank for 1998 GS 300 and the estimated cost of replacing the Fuel Tank on this vehicle.
Thsi vehicle has given me an excellent service over the years and now gas tank is leaking fuel due to rust in my part of the Country.

I am sorry I assumed you were selling one. Please accept my apology.
I do not have any luck so far , local wreckers are more interested in selling smaller parts which are easier to store. They would rather sell scrap metal rather than store larger fuel tanks.

There is place in Toronto that repairs gas tanks. I had mine repaired about six or seven years ago and it's still working fine with no leaks. They clean out the tank in an acid bath then they repair any holes. After that they coat the tank with some kind of paint or epoxy. I can't remember the name of the place but I'm sure you can probably Google it. It was the only place that I could find in all my searches. I don't remember the exact price I paid but I'm pretty sure it was less than $200. If you plan to keep your car I would suggest you go that route.
As far as removing and and reinstalling the tank I did it myself but it wasn't easy. You have to remove the exhaust and driveshaft to get it out. I was lucky (sort of) I had actually bought a tank from a junk yard first and had a local mechanic install it. Just my luck that used tank started leaking within a year. But since the tank had already been removed a year before all the bolts and fasteners had not had time to get seized up so I was able to do the replacement with the repaired gas tank myself. I think my mechanic had charged me about $200 or so dollars for the first removal and installation. When I had it done the first time I kept my original leaking tank which is the one I then had repaired in Toronto. I live in Ottawa so my car gets considerable exposure to salt and grime. I am quite please that the repaired tank has held up so well. The original tank started leaking when the car was only about 11 or maybe 12 years old. The repaired one is still going strong at 6 or 7 years.

Your reply has been very encouraging. Thank you. If you could be kind enough to check through your records and see if you can come up with the name of the shop which repaired your Gas Tank in Toronto that would be an enormous help to me. I am new to this game , none of the wreckers and shops appeared to show any interest since there is'nt much money in it for them. Anyhow thank you for your help. Diappointed from responses from Wreckers and soma shops.

I did search but I couldn't find my receipt. I just figured since I live in Ottawa I probably wouldn't be coming back to Toronto for any warranty claims. Lucky for me, never had an issue. I did a google search and I am not sure but this place could have been the one http://gastankexchange.com/
Hope it works out for you.
