Default Dexter's 93 SC300 (Swap/NA-T?) + 6 speed build

I've been out of the car game for a while since I've had a couple kids... Finally got the go ahead from the wife to play with another project. I've always wanted a Supra but could never afford one... so I went with the next best thing :-)

Recently purchased a 93 SC300 that needs... a lot of work. I have plans for the interior and exterior. I know exactly what I want. Color themes, material, audio equipment, body style..

I had to decide on a budget with the wife. Originally, I was thinking, "I'm going GTE, Single and a 6 speed". Results: Wife - 1, Dexter - 0.

So then, "Damn I might not be able to get the car running with that." Results: Wife - 2, Dexter - 0

With a little convincing, I'm currently the middle of those with a little flexibility. What I know, I can't do a 6 speed or single until my son is in school. What I don't know is... what should I do for now?

I just don't know what I want to do. Eventually, I want a decent sized single and a fun manual trans. I'm thinking stock TT GTE Auto swap for now to get it running? Maybe NA-T will actually come out cheaper in the long run... Can I sneak in manual without spending too much? It's just all so difficult to decide on. Any wise words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I will be updating this thread regularly with everything I do from start to finish. I plan on doing everything I possibly can myself (as a personal challenge) but we'll see how that goes.

Current Car: Won't crank (tries), peeling clear coat, complete junk interior but washed?

So far I've just ripped some interior stuff out that was junk.

And while trying to figure out the cranking issue, noticed smoke coming out from under the hood near the battery. I guess they left the rag under the battery in case they needed it.

I think there was likely a bad ground. Once I cleaned everything up the car cranks no problem.

Compression results:

Dry, Cold.
1. 190 psi
2. 190 psi
3. 120 psi
4. 90 psi
5. 170 psi
6. 180 psi

Wet, Cold
3. 180 psi
4. 120 psi
5. 185 psi

Wondering if I shorted 4 I put a little more oil in it and
4. 220 psi

Not sure about the results on 4. Possible carbon build up?

Also, a lot of oil and gunk on number 6. Some oil in the valley toward the back.

Any thoughts on those results? I'm going to start tearing it down and see what she looks like inside. I'm really trying to decide whether I should just refresh this motor and turbo it or if I should do a GTE swap.

Also, I guess I can change the name of the thread. I have at least decided on one part of this build.

A little boring so far but I couldn't work because the hood and trunk wouldn't stay open at all... so had to replace all of the struts.
