I would do a leakdown test on the engine to see how well the rings are sealing. This result from the catchcan doesn't sound like a happy engine.

My catch can doesn’t catch anything. I have never found fluid in it.

would the leak down test be the same as a compression check? I have been wanting to do that

Which specific fittings did you use? The above convo has me a little worried about air leaks, might as well bite the bullet and follow your lead. Thanks in advance!

No. Compression tests can lie about things. Leakdown doesn't lie and tells you if your valves are good/bad or rings good/bad or both. Compression tests are not what you want for a performance engine. A leakdown test puts the piston near TDC, then puts air pressure in the cylinder and allows you to listen for leakage. You'll hear ring leakage through the oil fill, and you'll hear valve leakage in either the intake (not so likely), or the exhaust (a LOT more likely). You can also get a percentage measurement which tells you overall how well the cylinder is sealing so you can make the right decision about needing just valves or just rings or both.
