Rudy's SC300 Weekend Warrior
This is far from the builds shown here, I just wanted to re-introduce myself as I've been absent for some time after foolishly selling my white SC400 for an E36 M3 a few years back. My name is Rudy and I live in Denver, Co. I'm a mechanical engineer and long time gearhead. I've recently sold the M3, my old 2jzge/w58 swapped Cressida, and have picked up another SC. She's a 1992 SC300 factory 5 speed with 146k. Previous owner got over his head in repairs, so I picked it up on the cheap and started fixing it up. It got ruined by a large hail storm the day after I bought it (naturally had no insurance yet), so I stubbornly paid an absurd amount to pdr the entire car. It's very much a ten footer still, but I've come to passionately admire these cars and am very excited to have one in my life again. My SC4 was so mint I was scared to leave it outside or take it to a local track day. This car is a nice change of pace as it's rough enough to not worry about leaving on the street or taking out on the weekends for a local track day now and again.
Recent work:
New timing belt and water pump
Spark plugs, cap, and rotor
New steering rack w/tie rod ends
All fluids and filters changed
Fresh radiator and hoses
New rear subframe w/poly bushings throughout rear suspension
New rear main seal, slave, and all bearings during clutch install
Mods thus far:
ACT Street/Strip clutch
Comp lightweight steel flywheel
BFI intake mod
3" stainless steel single exit exhaust
Eibach springs w/KYB struts (mkiv supra)
Roof spoiler
18x10" +35mm RPF1's w/Summitomo rubber
Grip Royal wheel (leftover from Cressida)
3P shift **** (good buddy of mine runs 3P)
Lightweight crank pulley (factory crank pulley fell apart on me)
HID lighting
'96 tail lights (I hate the fast blinkers, but despise the early tails even more lol)
Future:
Kaaz 2-way diff on order (will install once delivered)
LS400 brake upgrade w/slotted rotors and nice pads all the way around for light track duty

Thank you sir! Agreed - could stand for them to be a smidge wider (but I suppose they make spacers for that).

Thanks man! The SC4 really was my great white buffalo. However, I'm very much enjoying this car and am thankful to have found a suitable replacement.

Very good choice in car
I've got a 1993 sc300 red and manual too, post up what you think of the kazz differential. Differentials my next upgrade and i bought 2 bad auto tt pumpkins already on ebay but was able to send them back luckily.
You need boost next. These cars are just ment for it. My cars so much fun on 17 psi. I'm running Alisc3's TT ecu mod and its got plenty of fuel i've got hit the boost cut limit of the Japanese ecu

Thank you very much for the compliments! She's out in the lot getting a new windshield today, and my KAAZ 2-way is FINALLY shipping today (supposedly).
Boost is a pipe dream at this time, but if I get the chance I'd love to throw another couple hundred horsepower at this car. I was scared to pay all of the money for a Supra LSD to not know how it was going to show up (as you've clearly experienced scsexy). Once the KAAZ shows up I'll post a few pictures and give a bit of input on how it performs after break in. After that I'll be going through the brakes and hitting my first track day at High Plains Raceway in Byers once the car is ready and the weather is nice. I've been to that road course in my 2jzge Cressida a couple of times and had the time of my life.

After I installed it I'm really digging it. I stayed away from aluminum and went with the lightened steel version that Comp Clutch sells for the 2jz. I too hate aluminum flywheels and feel like they can negatively affect driveability. However, I love the Comp flywheel & ACT street/strip combo so far. Stiffer than stock for sure, but easy to drive and so far seems to have plenty of grip. I've been driving easy to break it in, but dropped it last night (during a quick spurt against an A8, shhh) and it grabbed like there was no tomorrow.

Hit the track on short notice last weekend. We went and spent the day at High Plains Raceway and when my buddy's '16 GTI turbo went we decided to not waste the day and had the SC out with the big boys. For being a lightly modified 25 year old car I couldn't help but be impressed. No on-track pictures as we spent more time on track and dicking around than taking pictures. Can't wait for rotors, pads, lines, fluid, and my Kaaz 2-way to arrive. I'll plan another trip out once I've got more goodies installed
