Lucky man, to find that car to build with the wife. Great deal you got there. Did you tell the seller what you found wrong with the car?

I remember your engine build, but believe you parted it out from what I recall. You planing another GTE swap with this one?

I wouldn't make it a point to tell them, no need to add insult to injury and make the seller feel dumb, just take the good deal and move on.

Yes, we're definitely going to swap this one. My wife is torn between a Greddy T78-33d or a HKS T51R. I know they're older technology but I love that era of Japanese tuning and the upgrades that were out back then. Mostly going to be all top end; race port/polish the head, new valve train, the basics. Haven't decided on swapping to manual yet but would function better as a moderate drifter.

Came across these joints for $800 wheels and tires. Forgot to get the offsets. I might snag em if m wife will let me LOL! Of course I still need coilovers to set em off.

Hell yeah, great find! I had a similar situation with my daily driver, bought it for $500 and just needed an ignition coil, love the "mechanic special" deals out there.

tmf2004 09-20-17 10:55 PM

i'm looking for a mechanic special also lol.. I've seen them as cheap as $1k.. but $500 and $700 is a steal.

I ran across another one 2 nights ago and the guy was asking $800 because he couldn't get it to start. I'm thinking about buying and flipping them for cheap!
