Default The Big G4 NA-T Build (SC3-5spd)

Hey Guys,

I have not been on this forum in over 4 years, and alot has changed with me personally. What hasn't changed is my love for the SC, and the dream of always having a turbo JZ under the hood.
Many SC's have come and gone, but this time I think i'm going to stick with what I got currently and I'm going to go NA-T and not look back. My horsepower goal isn't exactly set to say, but I hope to start
off with around 300-350.

So to start off, the vehicle I have, is a 1992 SC300 5-spd (W58) that I picked up from Indiana maybe a year or so ago for $1600. I have put around...$300 into the car, to bring it up to driving condition.
The car has very high mileage around 250k, and my only real complaint is that the steering is somewhat sloppy at this point. So I don't know if it needs a rack or what all is the issue, but that will of course be investigated when I pull the GE out to work on it.

My current plan, is to:
1. Pull the stock GE out.
2. Replace the headgasket with a GTE.
3. Replace the timing belt along with other odds and ends.
4. Look into the suspension and steering issues with the SC3
5. Install a turbo kit from Drift Motion onto the engine (T04z)
6. Drop the motor back into the car
7. Install FMIC setup
8. Swap out the fuel pump
9. Finally, I will have to deal with either a piggy back or GTE ecu swap. (I'm not to familar with this last step)

I'm hoping that with the above said and done. I won't be over $4000 and will be able to push 300-350hp.
I'm also aware that I'm sure other little things will need to be purchased, IAT/MAP sensors, etc etc etc.

The pace won't be extremely quick as I'm currently a grad student, so this will have to be balanced with how im doing in school, but with the summer coming up, I'm ready to go all in on this project.

I suppose I can add pics of the car I will be using now.

I recently got back into DSM's, so progress with the SC has been slow, but that's OK, gives me more time to research and find good used parts.

So for the update: the engine has been pulled out and is on a stand waiting for inspection.
Unfortunately the engine had low compression in the rear 2 cyls, I will have to update the specs when I find the sheet I wrote them on. I believe it was in the 60-90 range compared to 130-140ish for other cylinders.

The car does have 250k miles, so it is no surprise the engine is rather worn, I don't know exactly what I want to do yet. I may try to source a lower mileage 2JZ & start there OR I may try to get this one back in shape.

Cost wise, and due to this being a rather budget focused project, I will more than likely source another 2JZ, they are cheap right now locally, in the 250-400 range.

Parts Sourced as of now:
JDM 2JZ-GTE ECU
VVTI Coils
550CC 2JZ-GE injectors
Denso Supra Pump

Moving onto the discussion of pulling the engine and any tips:

Honestly if you can get past not damaging the stock wiring harness and/or any sensors, then the rest is a piece of cake. (I damaged 1 sensor out of frustration...)

The wiring harness literally took up about 80% of the time in pulling the engine. I would say the actual engine pull with wire harness out of picture, took about 1-2 hours.

From my experience on a difficulty scale, I give the engine pull with cut harness a 5/10 if you care to save the harness 8.5/10.

I suggest to remove the hood, pull the trans, then pull the engine. It just is so nice and easy after those 2 things are out of the way.
