I actually like the VIP style quite a bit. I can appreciate the quality of some of the high end Japanese parts and the stance is just all about rebelling against being basic in my mind.

I just want to go with an antagonist style to that, basically what would a lightweight performance oriented bare bones LS look like. minimalist is probably the best word

Some of the inspiration comes from the 86 RC, i think it is awesome Toyota sells something like this.

I think I'm getting old because touchscreens, blind spot detectors, self parking, backup sensors, rear cams, and all the beeps that go with that crap drive me insane.

it wouldn't be a proper 90's build without a touch of rice

at least its oem on something =P, now i just have to solve the problem of making little spacers to mount it... need to ditch the emblems too

got this SC intake to work, painted it wrinkle black. I just would like to add a silicone 45 to get the filter more in the corner so I can make a heat shield and some ducting. I'd also like black hoses and couplers but w/e that is just cosmetic.

Stripped some more out, I'll see what I can sell

Nothing too exciting this weekend, just yellow corners and stubby antenna installed (useless until I can delete the whole thing)

picked up some Megan RCAs and dialed in the ride height finally.

New wider tires coming so I might have to make some adjustments

Looking good so far. Are you getting different wheels or are you just trying to get a wider tract/contact patch? Wider tires look like that'd call for some fender work.

Thanks, same wheels. The tires are actually exactly the same spec 235/45/17 but they are Federal RS-Rs so they run about a full size wider without having to go up in OD. I'll do a comparo side-by-side when they arrive. They actually might be bigger than a full size because the Goodyears that came on these are stretching in slightly which, without measuring, tells me they are pretty narrow for a 235.

My fenders are messed up, especially the driver side. It was poorly repaired by the previous owner so i'm not afraid to mod them if needed. The whole exterior of the car has dents and blemishes everywhere from being parked in NYC and it drives me a bit nuts but I'm trying to stay focused on improving/replacing the suspension and wear parts.

Not as big as a difference as I expected but that is okay, fitment should be simple.

The car has never had sticky stiff tires on it so I'm interested to see what it can do on these.

I wish I could get ths thing higher but oh well. Now i have to make the ball joint cuts because my suspension travel is like 1/2 inch. I feel like I could get away with a bit of balljoint tapping with shorter endlinks but it is free to make a hole.

Rubbing during parking is obvious, at speed I'm not hearing any or smelling any. I'd still like to clearance it a bit to reduce the stares while parking.

RS-Rs are on and car is aligned

I was having some rough idle and stalling issues coming off the freeway so I got a LScowboys ECU. Car has been running great so far, I need to go for a long drive to see if the stalling issue has been resolved.

updated pics with the RS-Rs and now with ball joint cuts! how did I live before them, I do not know.

lscowboyls still repairing ECUs, or was this awhile back? i like the whole staying-away-from-VIP feel. it would look great with a set of meaty and wide tires, but I'm sure the RSRs are plenty sticky.

yeah he is, I called him on 5/14 and he had the new one shipped out to me on 5/15. Car is running great now.

I was eyeing up 275s haha.... but i can even find the limit with these 235s so they'd probably just make it slow plus i only have an 8j. ideally i think i'd like 245/45/17 615 on a 17x10, but I can't raise the car anymore so it'll be some work.

I need to deal with the rear arm bushings before any of that though and just get new arms. I have that same weird lateral sway in the rear like i had in the front prior to installing the poly bushings, it was quite an unpredictable weight shift and terrifying with the worn all seasons.
