I'm leaning towards an LS3 w/manual 6 speed if I can source one for the same cost I'll spend on a 2jz w/6 speed. This is going to be a daily driver and imo the ls motor will be easier to tune and more dependable. Not to mention if I break down somewhere ls parts are in stock at any autoparts store.
Contrary to what most believe on this board integrating the wiring into the stock bcm & ecu is not as difficult as people are making it out. I think it's the younger generations lack of electronics knowledge is why it's beyond most people's comprehension here. I grew up building ham radios and circuits with diodes, capacitors, transistors, etc... The younger generation has grown up programming pre-built circuits with computer chips. So they don't have basic circuit knowledge needed to be able to merge and integrate non-matching components.
All that needs to be done is to build an Andrino circuit board then program it to convert the signals from your engine management to the Toyota factory ECM/BCM. With the exception of losing ABS (which I might be able to maintain if it doesn't require any transmission signals) and skid control. I'm pretty confident everything else will work just fine. And I don't think stopping with 305's will be a problem.
