Talking Restoration / Preservation SC400

Well here we go again
I will embark in my project and will post here for progress.
pics coming soon.

Already spent too much time reading several posts, amazing how much info is here.

I guess since the SC 400 is 21 now it seems to me as the perfect project.
After working on Mustangs and all kinds of cars for money flipping them, I needed something for the long haul.

My only desperation is, I want her now, is not going to happen she needs a lot of work.

here is the scoop

1995 SC 400
Color : Red
mileage 2XX,XXX,XXX LOL I did not even looked exactly but over 200
Why, Is different, V8, sexy, well built, and frankly not many around anymore...

Plan

Restore preserve Mod and enjoy

I have a M112 Eaton ported that was considering with a 9 lb Boos only time will tell...

Here is where I STARTED OMG SOO MUCH WORK TO BE DONE

I don't even want to post how I got her but a little bit of progress over the week end .
she came home Valentines day

gutted the trunk already started on the back and work my way forward.

I also did a quick engine clean up remove hood and gutted the trunk

tearing her up

half clean engine

new plugs and wires she was running on 4 cyl I cant believe she even started I had 2 auto lite plugs on the front left side, all the other plugs were Bosch and the were a PIA to remove safely. Also 6 broken cables and a pinched coil cable
threw in a set of NGK and new cables for under $100 and she starts right up

right side look good just clean up and rust proof paint

left side not as good but safe

here is where I got couple pin holes no problem as the metal still solid

I will in addition undercoat in and outside waiting now on struts for trunk lid
and match paint
great deal on replacement struts from amazon

the paint will color code match in spray cans plus waiting on LED lights

spare tire missing she got 245K.

A lot more to come...

very little progress today install trunk lid shocks, remove the rear bumper PITA with rusted bolts and cut of the exhaust
most likely will go with a complete exhaust replacement got the code 21 too and bogs down when stepping on the accelerator

so bad o2
will be replacing fuel filter

that throttle body and intake needs a good bath.

Wink

So another plan for this week end...

This possibly is not a very hot topic as my build will be slow but steady. There is no turbo or High power adders as of yet

Perhaps a closer look at the condition of the vehicle would make this more interesting. (IT WAS TRASHED)

So bad That I was embarrassed to post pictures.

As this is a One men Team on spare time this will take some time to completion
I will post pic of updates later on
The trunk is almost complete That was the worst area besides the cancer on the right Quarter Panel
HOW CL helped

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...-retrival.html
http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/

retrieving the code made it easier without having to run out and buy a OBD 1 scanner, I have an OBD II but Sheila is old..
This how is how I found out that she needed some SENSE place back into her ( O2 Sensors). Thanks to the response of another member parts are on the way..
Even after the plugs and cables the car lack power and response to throttle, keep in mind this is a one man show trying to cover other areas so while I waited for correct paint for the trunk I tackled the engine issues here is what I found besides the bad Fuel filter that caused a broken main fuelk line..

this a view of the back side of the throttle body at first glance the front did not show to be so bad.
took it out cleaned her up and WALLA full throttle response no lag

while working her back and massaging her, I also did this
Seats - Tighten Nets
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...seat-nets.html
and replace the struts assembly so the trunk wont bang my head..

All from the help of CL members and their DIY

SO THANK YOU ALL
She will need possibly 50% of these DIY done before She gets a road worthy certificate from me...

so the plan this week end is to clean up all her lenses, as well as remove the nasty interior, prep the speakers for re foam, paint calipers, continue the cleaning and scrubbing..

So this is a long week end for me have another car to work on but I figure I make a list of what can be done this week end.
Hopefully my downstream O2 will come in,
So I decided to go ahead and put in all the O2 first and I am pretty sure that will clear the CEL. Will have to plug in my instrument cluster to check..
Then do a quick oil and filter change.
Hopefully I can get the bull (06 Taurus) fixed and sold soon need the $$$ for Sheila.
I really want to work on covering the headliner and finish the other a pillar along with the sun roof cover, not sure how to get that sliding cover out I guess I will drop the sunroof and re lube inspect all parts as an once of prevention...

I doubt I will have much time so the following will have to wait.
Replace rotors and pads flush the brake fluid.
install coil overs
fix the PS issue still need to see if the issue is the PS pump, or rack
inspect timing belt
fine leather by the yard
re do all lighting including cleaning light assy
fix the climate control
install new sound system
Clean and inspect the bottom of the engine inspect for other leaks
get quotes for body work
find some 18# tires for my wheels, sell the AR wheels
and on, and, on and on...

Took trip down to the local pick & pull and got me some parts
both window regulators with motors
molding for front window
extra set of valve covers
both door panels on poo color but not broken took them out very carefully
a bucket load of clips nuts and bolts
an instrument cluster ( took a leap of faith that the needles would work
and started working on her again

got the dashboard painted and mounted

dash is in

going with granite for lower part

rear panels came out good

got all my gauges working and replaced backlight with LED's

should have the whole dash done tomorrow and finish the carpet

hit a bump with the power windows any advice will be very much appreciated

got some help from Gerrb locating the schematics on one of his post so a big hands and grateful for his help

found the relay for the power windows tested it and it works fine zero resistance while applying power

the problem is the master switch wont power the motor for the passenger window up or down tried two different switches

on the passenger window the motor only goes up not down. I am thinking there is a wire crimp somewhere that will delay me finishing the interior this week end.

any advice on how to troubleshoot this??
