Excellent work on that piece!
You will get used to it, trust me. You will mis shift in the beginning, but then you get used to where the gears are. As long as you're not banging gears all of the time, you will be fine.

Under that black cover, there is a spring and ball. Are there actually 2 sorings? I took my cover off, there's a big spring in there that is sticking out. But I also just realised there's a smaller spring on the ground. Wondering if it fell out with out me noticing when I took the cover off.
yeah I think the same thing happened to me, forgot exactly but 2 sounds right, I can take my cover off later today and have a peek around haven't looked in there in quite a while.
LMAO that's hilarious. Same exact piece you just made.
Hey I will take one of those pieces if they haven't been claimed yet. I doubt that I will have any issues with my JB welded piece, but would be nice to have that in my back pocket if my piece comes loose
Thanks,
Keith
yeah I know how you feel, its like all these places read our threads here and mass produce what we come up with... It took me like a week of scratching my head while staring at that transmission... several sketches... before I came up with the idea for getting it to 32", now everyone has a version of it... haha
Lol, all good. If people want to pay $200+ for an out the door solution, so be it, and there's definitely a need and market for that.
But if people want to pay $60 for a DIY homemade version like this, well then that's what this is all about right here

Somebody please help!
So I took the top inspection cover off awhile back. I'm just about ready to install this trans, however I noticed there is the ball and long spring in that spot where they are supposed to be. But I also found this smaller and shorter spring sitting on the ground next to the trans. Wondering if there were 2 springs in there, and this one just fell out and I didn't notice it come out.

Edit: Make sure you're not missing any of the detent ***** that go under the springs also.
Talked to Fenning, thinks it probably came out of one of the sensors I chopped apart. So I think I'm OK.
And I've been making progress, but much slower than I had hoped. But progress is progress, and I'm just aiming for next year at this point. Here's where I'm at.
- Stock pilot bushing removed. Learned a new life hack in the method, removed it with 4 wet napkins and a punch in about 10 minutes! Lol. Then new Collins one installed in it's place.
- Flywheel mounted (M10 x 1.25 x 40mm ARP's). Torqued and Loctited.
- Clutch mounted. Torqued and Loctited.
- Shifter arrangement finalized. Made some spacers to replace the stack of washers. Shifter ends up 31 5/8" back from the block.
- Attempted to install the transmission, but it's just so heavy. It was getting late so I just decided to call it a night and will try again tonight.
