What BMW trans were you going to use? Im guessing an E46 trans, which the Z trans is a better trans than the E46 as far as feel and operation, its most likely cheaper, the CD009 goes for around $600 around here.

I'm going with the GS6-53BZ from an E60 535i. Collins makes an adapter and finalizing a kit. Just curious to see how I'm gonna run my speedometer and tachometer. Oh and they go for about the same $600-800 around here

I dunno man, i would check out the price of a clutch for that trans before i go with it. Prices for stuff like a clutch can get pretty ridiculous just because it is a for a BMW. Anything with any sort or performance orientation will be astronomically expensive. So expanding could be a problem. Also availability of that trans if it breaks, as most BMWs are sold in automatic.

As far as the speedometer im thinking about using my ABS line, i have not found a write up on it yet, if not the autometer GPS speedometer works but has a slight lag to being its GPS based:

Yeah Brandon (Halon) has that on his car. It's kool but the lag bothers me in the back of my head.

Actually clutches aren't bad and there are plenty of trans down here. Plus when it comes to the power I want to make go big or go home.

Not much. But here is what i have done so far. The interior is coming back together. My climate control is working now but still not heat, not sure what the problem is. i found that all 4 corners of the car had memphis 4 inchers in them to my surprise so im keeping them. I have a JBL 4 channel amp that is well awkward at this point. im not getting as much sound as i'd like from the front speakers. I installed a Clarion NX404 which is actually much better than what i was expecting. I have an Alpine HU in my other car and it works great but for a budget HU this clarion is seriously pretty good.

ordered the rest of the missing interior pieces
bought some HIDs because the stock headlights SUCK.

Working on figuring out a solution for this difficult noisy clutch. 1st thing is the pedal is just too heavy, then the clutch disc is not friendly for street use. I want to use a stock MR2 pressure plate with a 300ZX ACT stage 1 disc. From what research suggest it should be good to hold up around 350tq which is plenty for this car and its overall goals.

Hey! my buddy Evan bought it lol (I'm Alex by the way) but yeah...put it to the ultimate test. Bought it didnt check anything on it put in a fuse for the wipers and drove it for 12 hours lol probably not smart as we were talking about checking fluids, loose bolts, etc.. that never happened but we solved some issues with the hvac and some wiring along the way. It was really sketchy. The trans was louder than the car but the uz sounded great. it definitely needs an input shaft bearing and differential bushing so those are next and interior afterwards. Also a lot of electrical work.

Hahaha im glad you guys made it. The only doubt i had was running out of gas but im guessing that did not happen, But yea the electrical could use some attention. I bypassed most of the stock stuff for audio and HVAC. the rest of the electrical in the car is well, lexus. I had also RainX the windows the day before so you probably didnt need the wipers lol.

Did you guys ever get the cluster relit? That pissed me off so bad that it went dark on me literally the morning before you guys came to pick it up.

We were lucky the gas worked without the cluster being on lol it got super cold in the mountains so we tried to get the heat to work so we found out that most of the vacuum lines were crossed and some capped at the wrong places. The cluster had a few wires crossed and blew a couple fuses but we managed to solve that along he drive. A lot of bumps later and the amp wires fell off lol. And after a while it would pop out of 6th during decel or a hard bump. But after all that it still brought us smiles lol

Wow. So the heat works? lol see i didn't know. I thought the heater control valve was just bad. It was my first time dealing with an SC heating system, but jesus the cluster had had crossed wires lmao. omg. I really want to send the "tech's" boss a link to this thread to show him the ineptness of his employee but im trying to be the bigger man about it. See I'll take the blame for the amp line i should have done some better wiring but its a ****en amp line who the hell cares, take care of that in 30 sec. But the cluster having crossed wires, seriously why and how? That's another story all together. I'm glad you guys got it figured out.

Tell Evan im working on the last loose end now so i'll be in contact with him.
