Cool. Well for what it's worth, on my 'S361' I'm at 560hp currently at 20psi, which is just starting to get into the efficiency zone where these turbos shine. At 25psi I'll be well into the 600's, and should be knocking on the door of 700 once I crank it up into the 30's.

My goals were very similar to what it sounds like yours are. I wanted 600hp at what I consider mild boost levels (less than 30). I was torn between the 360 and 361, eventually just chose the larger one. In hindsight, seeing that I damn near hit my goal at 20psi, I wish I would have gone with the smaller and more responsive s360. Probably be hitting my 600hp goal at a mild and easy 25psi, and have bertter response. Still plently more to be had if you want to throw it on kill mode at 30-35psi, put you into the mid-high 600's. Anyway, just my thoughts from my experience, and doesn't seem like your goals are all that different than mine. Either way you can't go wrong, good luck with the decision and excited to see what you end up going with!

Thanks Halon I appreciate the input, our goals are pretty similar and that helps give me a baseline on the BW turbos with a similar setup. I think the s361 sounds pretty close to what I was describing. I had been thinking about the S362 for a while now, going to have to give it some thought as there appears to be lots of different sizes 60,61,62 and even like a 63 or 64.5 that I am seeing online, and then billet versions. need to do some more research it seems.

I try to use the actual BW part numbers where possible. The whole S3xx numbers are kind of like numbers that Bullseye made up back in the day to simplify it, but now I think it just made it more confusing with all the different variants.

So anyhow, the turbos I'm referring to are the S300SX 83-75 (Call it the S360) which is off the shelf offering from BW. Then their next off the shelf offering is the S300SX 88-75 (Call it the S362). Then my turbo is an S300SX 84-75 (Call it an S361). It is not a normal off the shelf one, it is a special variant that BW makes especially for Full Race.

If you care, I've written down some of my past notes here. Note that the 'S360' is rated at 68lb/min, so if 600 is your goal it'll get you there.

Yeah good info indeed. I just figured out the proper numbering late last night myself.
the S366 is a BW 91-80.
It seems like the S366 has no chance of coming on before 4k rpm's which is a little late for me.
not sure how much a quick spool valve would help but I am now looking at the s360/362 variants.
a S360 with a quick spool sounds like it should spool the fastest, might have to give it a try.

quickgs was running a s366 with .91 a/r on 10:1 and E85 (I think he is talking about h setup with the a n/a block and n/a vvti head) and put down 700 at 24 psi if I remember right. I think it was 650ish something at 20 psi. I dont remember the lag being terrible but then again at the time I wasn't paying attention I was more trying to find on to the oh s*** handle.

Ali...mine starts to spool up at 3000 rpm....i hit full boost by 4500-5000

For as big as the S366 is...it doesnt have that much lag....it comes on really fast...once it starts spooling up I hit 15psi pretty quickly

Thanks for that info as well, sounds like the s366 isn't as bad as I thought.

I was doing some reading about the fmw version of the s362 and it ws just updated in 2016 to billet and is called the BW 8376. its a little more expensive than the off the shelf s362 but it is supposed to spool fast and flow a little under a s366 at 75lb/min. sounds pretty good to me.

also there is a 64.5mm fmw version the BW 8776 that flows like s366 also but spools a little faster.

Leaning towards the FMW 8376 in the 62mm version (or 61.5mm really).

Yep Ali got it, S300SX 91-80 (I also sometimes see people call it the 91-79) is the "S366".

I personally think an S360 with a quick spool would be a sick street setup with really awesome response. I know we live in the 2JZ world of "No 67mm+ No Care" but that's crap. A 60-62mm is a sick street setup with plenty of airflow to be in the 600-700 range at the wheels, which is no joke for a street toy.

Can you tell I regret not getting an S360 yet? lol

lol, yeah Halon I can tell you really want that S360 now. That is really still a good choice for the off the shelf BW turbo's. I have some time to decide thankfully but I have a better understanding of what I want now, most of the time I am driving through cities and short runs on the highway so building a top end monster is not what my primary goal is. I want to kick 2nd and 3rd loose without waiting till redline. I think I will be choosing either the standard s360 or the fmw 8376.

Studiogeek, yes indeed alot of planning, but in good time, there will be alot of building so stay tuned.
I am guessing your car is still running good, hopefully the tt ecu mod is still treating you well.
Unfortunately I have to move soon = no garage for a project car, but as soon as I get into my new place the build will be ON!
I have been told I tend to overplan things every once in a while.... or was it all the time... can't recall I think I was too busy planning something

Thanks, Its going to top off everything quite nicely. Its really awesome in person I don't think the pictures do it enough justice on how well the carbon fiber came out, and its stronger than I thought it would be.

Hey Ali, you tried fitting up that spark cover yet? Just had a local guy paint a spare set of GE valve covers and throw them on his car, along with the spark plug cover, just to realise that at some point they changed the GE valve cover design slightly so it doesn't fit. Looking at the pics in this thread of your engine bay, it looks like you have the ones that it'll work. But if it doesn't just let me know. I'm going to start a thread about that because I never realised that.

I just picked up an aem ems v1 for a good price, I love the tt ecu mod but since I do not daily the car anymore and I will be going more aggressive on this round I can use the extra features/outputs it has and live with the harder starting. I will still be keeping my jdm supra ecu and map ecu as backups or for another project.
I'll be following up that tree at around the same time so I will be watching closely. I just picked up an AEM V2 for a killer deal so i impulse grabbed it. I ordered 1000's and a 5 Bar MAP yesterday and I am going to try out a really aggressive setup as well. I can't stop thinking about it so I guess it's time. I feel like it's possibly a dumb idea to pull out a system that has started and run flawlessly but the computer nerd in me needs to experience full control and few limits. I'll sell my collection of Aristo ECU's but my JDM Supra ECU will be in a glass case ready for me to come crawling back to it if the standalone/tune is less drivable as a daily. I have my 400 for a daily so I can handle a MILD reduction in drivability but I am not skilled enough to be tweaking a fuel map to get the car started and home from VA. with Wifey should it flip out while away. .
