Default 1996 Lexus SC400: The 500 dollar SC

Yeah, so I have 3 rests-mod threads. Get over it.

Bought a 1996 Lexus SC400 in Black onyx. It was 500 bucks, and needed/needs A LOT of help. Drove it home some 200 miles on 4 cylinders due to a bad (yep, you guessed it) ignition coil. Drivers side, of course where the manifold heat beats them up.

Bought it to get it working and quickly flip it to a decent car then sell it and make a few bucks off the thing, but I have become attached. SC's are a disease.

Has 181k miles, but motor has 90k miles. Timing belt looks brand new.

Has a lot of things wrong with it. Such as

Drivers side door actuator broken
All leather seats are torn to heck
Paint needs SERIOUS scrubbing. No clear failure
Lots of minor pieces and trims to replace

A/C is ice cold on 4 cylinders even...(literally) and the thing drove home.

Pictures below.

Bought 80 dollars worth of stuff today.

Both front seats and full back seat
E brake boot
Rear buckle trims
Trim shifter panel
Floor mats

Have yet to find some decent door panels. Going back to the JY to fetch the dash and the woodgrain tomorrow. had no room.

Pics below

Have lots of things to install this week. Bought over 800 dollars worth of crap for the car.

Cruise control and horn don't function, so got a clock spring. While I was at it, I bought 2 door panels (drivers and passengers) another steering wheel, another nakamichi amp, shifter, centre console amongst other items.

Speakers just thump when radio is played so Ill be replacing those as well.

My 93 sc400 looks just like yours in the beginning. Cept' my back seats are perfect for some reason. Same issues as you. It just wont get over 4K now(code 31), climate screen doesnt show bottom half, trim is torn to hell, gauge cluster doesnt work, and driver door has the same issues.

So I sold this SC after making it look decent. made a few bucks, decided I need a reliable DD. Sold this one to fund a bit toward the effort.

The buyer will restore it to 90 percent...
