My buddy found this steal on Facebook early sunday morning...'01 GS300 in Baytown, TX. Seller wanted 1000 for it and said it had no title but ran and drove fine. I was hesitant but pics were solid so I made the 1.5 hr trip and paid a body to ride with me incase I pulled the trigger on the car.




The car was running when i arrived and the gas light was on, so i hopped in with the seller and drove to the gas station and rolled around for a minute. Car rode and accelerated as promised. Interior was not up to par or as he described.






I had negotiated the price to 800 due to no title, and upon arrival the seller decided he wouldn't take anything less than 775. I just had to test him and offered 750 due to (door handle and Drivers window not working) and the fact the car only came with the wallet key. HE DECLINED, so I made the 1.5 hr trip back home to slave away on my other project.

I felt like the car was def worth it, but at the price and headaches I would be facing I needed some leverage.

 

Well 2 days later my buddy who found the car on Facebook hits me up saying that he had gotten the guys price down to $560. I definitely felt it was worth the risk and trouble for it. So I found a friend to ride with me the 1.5 hr trip at 11:30pm.

Transaction was quick and the car still had the gas i had put in it 2 days prior.
The car made the trip home fine but no radio almost killed me.



This is what I scored. For $560 running and driving.

 

I drove it to my store the next day and used the Enterprise Detailing Location to hose her off and vacuum the inside..

That Night I started a list of things the car lacked... and just happened to find an ad on the other CL (Craigslist) and found a guy in Austin who no longer had a 2nd Gen and sold me all this for 180.

 

I didn't need most of It but for the price i couldn't pass it up.
Definitely needed the Driver side Door Handle, Factory Radio and Steering Wheel.


Swapped on the Door Handle, a bit of an eyesore till paint but functional ...



Airbag Silver Lexus Emblem was chipping so I hit it with some Plastidip I had lying around the shop.



Came out well.

Made a trip to the city to get all the trunk lining out of this.





ALSO stopped by the DMV to handle title issues...

 

looks like its all coming together...

 

I was definitely looking at buying this car. The title issue had me worried and I definitely didn't need a 5th project car. Glad someone did pick it up. If you are in Houston and need any help or parts let me know.

Since the Title issue is now handled.

I am tackling the Key issue.

Called Sewell Lexus and they said they can create a Key off my Wallet Key...so a 3 Button Master Key ($200) and Free Cut/Program...
going also spring for a regular black transponder key since they will cut it for free and the blank is only 60-65.

Also got my box from Rock Auto.

NEW Cabin Air Filter
NEW Hood Shocks
NEW Wipers

Drove the car the past 3 days and got a check engine light...





Pulled the code and found a DIYguide on here already...




Tore down the broken Master Key and slapped a new CR1616 Battery in it and It works...
So now I can go to Sewell Lexus and get another Master Shell and I'm good to go...
