Default 1999 2JZGTE VVTi Manual Single Turbo Project Started

My dream over the last 12 years is to build a turbo charger 2JZ engine by myself instead of purchasing it from someone else. A family with two kids and a busy life so I told myself let start the project tomorrow over the past twelve years. Finally, last week I decided to pull the engine out so I don’t have to wait until tomorrow . I started to collect parts summer of last year and continue to look for more parts. My experiences about cars are: Changing oil, spark plug, valve covers gasket, suspension, and brake pads or discs.

Very clean car, glad you decided to finally bite the bullet! Can I ask why you want to get a VVTi motor? Keep us posted and ask any questions you come up with.

VVTi is newer technology and I'm moving forward. I owned two previous SCs with non-VVTi motor and I can tell for sure the SC VVTi motor respond quicker with 24.5m per gallon average.

Well sure, it's newer.. Just keep in mind the internals are weaker on the VVTi so I hope you plan to stay under 450hp or get new rods.. Just making sure you knew there's a cap to power without doing some internals..

His internals are fine for over 700. Vvti internal are only weaker on the NA vvti motors. The gte vvti has the same internals as the gte and non vvti ge motors.

I would like to share a little Tip. Most over look replacing the Oil Pump which I did and ended up having to rebuild the short block. This is a very very rare acurance but for around $300.00. Should not be over looked. Good Luck with your Engine & Transmission Swap

The stock fuel tank is replaced with older 92-97 fuel tank with return fuel line. I bought the fuel tank from Aliga
20ft Braided flex line -6AN

Sorry no Walbro GS341 because it is too noisy. I decided to go with AEM 50-1000.

JDM TT(Left) AEM 50-1000 Stock SC300 Right

drilled the stock hanger for the bottom fuel hole

Red wire+ to light blue+ and black- to light green-?

92-97 Gas tank installed

Default tran

I decided to go with 92 W58 for testing and cut the tunnel instead of replacing it with 6 speed tunnel. I might swap it out with a low miles(89K) R154 sometime next year.

The whole process took about 5 minutes. Jigsaw does the trick.

Tial 44mm wastegate was advertise 14.5psi but the spring color is for 8.5psi
