aleung3's Build Thread

Hey guys!

New to the Lexus scene! My name is Allan, I recently picked up a 2006 GS300 RWD in Mercury Metallic with 48,000km (I'm from Canada). It was completely stock, but so far the only things I have done to it are:

-Tint
-Rims (came with the car)
-Various VLED upgrades
-5000k lowbeams
-3000k HID fogs

I have BCR coilovers on the way right now!

I'm looking for new rims currently and need some help on specs! I found 2 locally for sale. First one is Work Euroline, F: 18x8 +32 and R: 18x9 +32 225/40/18 all around. Second is Work Varianza D3S, F: 20x9.5 +37 245/30/20 and R: 20x10.5 +35 285/25/20

Now I'm trying to figure out which set would work best with my car, without having to do any fender mods (or very minimal shaving). I am hoping once I recieve my coilovers that I can get close to tucking tire. I tried using the advanced search but couldn't really find anything.

Any help would be appreciated!

The fronts will be perfect. The rears will require quite a bit of shaving. I have a 275/30 on a 20x10.5 with +35 and I had to shave quite a bit and notch the rear bumper bracket quite a bit. It fits like a glove now, but it took some serious grinding.

Congrats on the GS and welcome to Club Lexus.

Looks like you got a good start on your build. I look forward to seeing your car's progress.

How low are you currently sitting? Does it ever rub on your liner on dibs? Good to know, maybe I will just order new rims with different offsets

That why you run 255 instead of 275 it will give you a small curve so you don't rub

Stretched tires are the ugliest thing I've ever seen on a car. I'd never run a 255 on a 10.5" wheel. I don't even like the look of a 275 on a 10.5. Personal preference.

I'm on air so I sit where I want, but I can pretty much set it wherever I want without rubbing now. My front are 245/35 +35 and they rubbed the liner slightly.

A little update... just got my coilovers in! I plan on installing them this weekend.

One thing that I was a little confused was that when I looked at the coilovers, they have a sticker for is300? Could anyone that has BCR coilovers chime in on that? Is our coilovers the same?:uh:

Is yours RWD? I just checked the BC Racing website, as well as other vendors that sell these and the part number is suppose to be R-02 for RWD.

I really hope these do work, as I waited 5 weeks to get them in...

I'm thinking the same thing. The older gen is300 is probably totally different. I'd double check with your vendor and BC website.

I'll double check when i get a chance to, and yeah, mine is RWD

aleung3 May 14, 2014 11:02 AM

So yeah, my local vendor contacted BC Racing... They did send me the wrong ones, so unfortunately i'll have to wait another week or so for them to send me the correct ones
