Default Picked up a platinum for free-fifty-free, sorta

So, uh, yeah. Got this hunk. 96, 160k, platinum/black interior. The big question is, wtf will I do with it?

So a few months back a buddy tells me a friend of his had a neighbor with an sc sitting in his backyard that had been wrecked and wanted it gone. He knew they had a 2j, so he asked my friend if he had any interest. Being a te3 corolla guy, he calls me. I get vague info, don't feel like playing middle man telephone games, so forget about it.

Fast forward to two weeks ago I help a friend pick up a super clean mk3 shell after talking him into a JZ swap by offering free wiring. We remember the sc, and my mk3 buddy actually goes and checks it out and pays $300 for the engine. I go with him to load the car to bring it to work to yank the engine and realize what is going on. Car was in a literal 2mph crash, dude didn't realize he took his foot off the brake dicking with the radio and put it into a city truck. Connected right at the hood, barely tweaking the upper core support but not popping the condenser or radiator, just lights. So I offer $400.

I'm back to playing middleman, and after 4 days my buddy tells me I need to figure out what I'm gonna do with my new car. Come to find out he went and paid the guy for the car too, and gave it to me for helping make his mk3 happen. So that's where I'm at. Engine has been yanked. Pulled the bumper cover off today to discover there is ZERO frame damage, or any real structural damage!

Not sure if it'll turn into a build thread or part out, but I have everything literally to do a 1j swap in either vvti or non vvti and both of em single, with an r154 or auto. Biggest hurdle is the obd2 which is only a hurdle due to which direction I want to go, as wiring a JZ is kinda my thing. Either way the thing has to be obd2 compliant to pass inspection or later resell and be worth a ****, so that's a for sure thing.

Excited it has some new KYB gr2's!

Nice score! I vote vvti auto with a stall, but how the heck would you make that obdii compliant?

Why cant I ever get this lucky? I always seem to run across a beat up, locked ones for this price. The haul fee isn't even worth it to be honest. What does the interior look like?

Car was an auto.

Fj40 is severely rusted, also a customer's as I work at a small land cruiser shop

Interior is really nice aside from a torn drivers seat and rear upper headrest needs re stitching.

Yes, a unimog it is! My coworker got it for free too! Along with a good 5cyl diesel

As for vvti and obd2 compliance, yeah. I've thought about that a little and have a couple theories in my head I need to actually look further into, but I have some things I need to knock out before I make a commitment to this.

Oh yeah, I'm in Austin TX. If you're seriously looking for a 40, get with me. These dudes have been doing this almost 20 years so they always know of trucks in various states of condition for sale. I actually am probably gonna put this together to sell to get into an fj60/62 to do a 1fz swap with some boss *** **** going on.

HahahahA, ewwwww, no. I have like 4 JZ engines in my storage.

In other news, looks like ill also be acquiring gf's sc. She decided a 80s volvo wagon is the way to go so I'm on the hunt, and her 1j/holset/r154 will be getting swapped into that, and I get her sweet cloth interior car with new supra lcas and 1pc driveshaft, manual cluster, fmic setup, plus everything else. Those are just the noteworthy parts.
