Ghost Build 95 SC300 NA-T
Whatup CL! Finally got the time to post on my build. Picked up a 95 SC300 about a month ago to build up and play around with. The car currently has 203,154 miles on it and runs but won't rev past about 3k RPM if i'm not mistaken. Drove it around the neighborhood a couple times when I got it home and outside of that engine issue everything seems to be in really good shape.
I picked up a bottom end built for about 800 RWHP per the previous owner and this is it's current configuration:
2JZ-GE Block w/ 2JZ-GTE Pistons
GTE Rods
OEM Piston Rings
Other stuff - gotta find the sheet w/ the specs
Build Objective
650 RWHP
> 550 Torque
350Z CD009 Trans
Learn about engines / auto electronic systems
Practice fabrication techniques
Hopefully develop some electronics / microcontroller solutions to some common problems involved w/ motor swaps to contribute and give back to the community
This is a rough non-specific start based on what I've gathered on these and other forums, but not meant to be exact. I'll get the best available, most economical and reliable parts I can based on your feedback and research. Feel free to heckle
Current Planned Parts List
ARP 203-4702 Head Studs
Custom Head Gasket (sized to achieve 9:1 compression)
[Need to select a Turbo that matches the above build objectives]
MS3 w/ MS3X or AEM F/IC-6
900cc+ Injectors
Wastegate
FMIC
[Need to select a fuel pump setup.... ]
Second Hand or Ebay Intake & Exhaust manifold setup
CD009 Transmission
CD009 to 2JZ Swap Kit w/ Pilot Bearing
Flywheel Adapter (possibly CNC)
Used 350Z Flywheel
JWT Heavy Duty Clutch w/ Metallic Disc
Shifter Bracket (fabricate)
Supra Transmission Mount (fabricate)
(I'll update this once it gets more specific to)
I'm almost done prepping the engine to pull it now. Should be O.W.T. out in a few hours.

Got the tranny. Wasn't a CD009, but for the price it can't be beat. I'm under the understanding that the syncho issues w/ the 350Z Trans were fixed long before 07, which is the year this one was manufactured. If it's a tank, i'll swap it w/ a legit CD009 but the mating adapter and custom flywheel will be the same.

My only question about what you are doing is that I have heavily considered doing the Nissan 6speed swap that you've been doing but isn't the custom part a pain in the *** like what exactly are you using to do what you are doing, and I know it is still a lot cheaper than a V160 all day but yea let us well at least myself know

This thread: http://***********.com/mkiv-toyota-s...1ef3e#msg20336 is what gave me the confidence in seeing that someone else has done it already and also lists about all the necessary parts and components.
I have a few friends who do amazing fabrication work and also have access to a CNC so some of those custom parts will be fabricated.
The custom stuff isn't that big of a deal. Measure twice, send to fabricator w/ very specific specifications, measure on receipt and install (or DIY). The key is having the Factory Service Manual for everything so you can verify what you're measuring, especially when you're adapting different components.
The link is for supra forum w/ a z on the end and it's Halon's build

Build Update!
Got the motor out of the SC300 this weekend as planned. My first motor pull and it was a piece of cake. Nothing serious to watch out for aside from having a good organization system for where you'll store bolts / place parts etc.
Next step is to remove the head and bring it to a friend's spot this weekend to begin cleaning it up and seeing if we need to send it out to be more thoroughly cleaned. Motor has 240k on it so that might be a good idea.
Ordering ARP head studs, replacement oil & water pump + gasket kit to rebuild head after cleaning.
MAGIC!

Thanks Rich! Been following your build as well. You have some amazing fab skills. I can definitely see myself doing that fuel pump mod you got going there. Once this 350Z transmission is in we'll have another example of this application on the 2J and a great intermediate step between the R154 and an all out V160. From what I've heard the 350Z trans is very strong aside from some issues with the first 350s..

Auto Transmission Off
Got the tranny off tonight and the motor on a good working surface. Can't stress how clutch the air ratchet is. (see what I did there lol)
