Thanks! Yeah, I'll need to invest in a Go Pro. Some random guy did put his in my windshield, so there should be a full run shot from inside the car facing all 5 of us hahaha.

Couple of videos from the event my girlfriend took.

Nice. And you didn't even have to drive to Mexico.

Justin2JZ 10-10-13 07:33 PM

Dude. Sick.

Update #6 1/19/13

So I got a bit of work done yesterday. Just something so I could feel satisfied that I actually did some kind of progress that day and to prepare for the clutch pedal assembly.

Current state of the engine bay.

Whats coming out today. I relieved the pressure from the accumulator block, and I didn't have any fluid explode anywhere unlike I've seen on some other peoples build threads lol.

Can't turn a wrench without my tunes. Today it was Doo-Wop channel on Pandora.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41...ps7f056de6.jpg

And final product. Now I'll admit something in which it made me feel REALLY stupid after the fact. I Took the cylinders out then the brackets. Some idiot decided it would be a great idea to put a bolt from the bottom going up so I smashed the **** out of my knuckles trying to get to it. Finally take the bracket off and I can see the main bracket on the bottom. I see 1 bolt, and 2 threads...the last 2 bolts go in through the mother-****ing wheel well. In other words I could have just undone 3 bolts, 1 hard line and 2 connectors and pulled it out complete. Oh well.

That was the extend of the work I got done on the Lexus, mainly because I felt lazy, and because I didn't have too much else to do while waiting for the clutch pedal assembly to arrive. However I did get a package in the mail that day for my other car :D.

DDM?!

Now supposedly this is one of the best fitting intakes made for the R53 platform. I call bull****. It fits like absolute garbage, and utilizes the bottom half of the factory air box. Thank god I didn't pay the full $255 they go for. Gotta love eBay, $123.50!

It is extremely loud and obnoxious, so I'm happy.

Now a question to you guys, I'd like to clean some stuff up inside if possible. Any idea what the circled items are? And anything else I can ditch that's not a necessary component that's not running systems or cruise control)

I know #2 in this image is the ABS/TRAC ecu, since its labeled A.B.S. ECM right on it, but what is the little black box right underneath it?
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y41...psbb657e2d.jpg

So in theory, I should be able to relocate these cylinders with a new hard line and extend the plugs and still have working ABS? right? :uh: I'd love to keep the ABS if I can, and this is something I will be tacking on in the next week or so.

I'm sure you could, but its not worth it honestly. Just take it all out and throw it the hell away. You really need to stand on the pedal to lock the tires up.

usoff89 10-30-13 08:46 PM

So if I were to just take it out, do I just plug that one line and thats it? Or is there more to the ABS that needs to come out?

PatBroChil 10-30-13 08:49 PM

Huge props on the whole build, this car is too dope. Oh, and tell Feola to suck it.

Tatty93LS 11-04-13 07:14 PM

Out of curiosity, what kind of wiring do you have to do with this swap, if any?

I.E.: Does the ECU recognize that the car is no longer an automatic?

usoff89 11-05-13 10:28 PM

Hey Nismo, have you seen the other guys thread over in the SC forum? He has managed to get his factory speedo gauge to work with the KA trans by modifying the speed sensor. It's pretty interesting and doesn't seem all that complicated. Just thought you might be interested in that as I am with my swap.

Engine ECU and Trans ECU are separate. Only thing I had to do was bypass the neutral safety switch, and wire the reverse lights. Thats it!

Oh thanks, but I ended up getting my speedo 100% working and accurate with the DD box.

usoff89 11-06-13 09:39 PM

"DD box"? Did I miss that in the thread? What is that exactly?

Just did a quick search and came up with this. (Okay, I admit it, I kind of edited the search terms ["DD Box speedometer"] :p) What it does is it basically modifies the speed signal going to the speedometer up or down. Great for guys running awkward wheel/tire combos, or new transmissions ;) Alternatively, the guys over at Mighty Car Mods have this "Speedo Corrector Kit", from Jaycar, up for sale, though it's currently out of stock (both Jaycar's and MCM's site). Another little disadvantage is that you have to assemble the entire thing (soldering and all), but they do have a video on how to configure it all (you'll need a Phillips head screwdriver, a reasonably straight road and a GPS-enabled device with a speedometer function to cross-reference with) up on their Youtube channel.
