Overdrive, glorious overdrive

Good seeing you yesterday Kahn - sorry it was so rushed and I couldnt talk shop much - was just in a huge hurry, not to mention I went to pick up the car Last Friday at 5:15 and didn't leave till almost 9 - so was kinda in the doghouse;-)

Now I can start focusing on fit and finish a bit - and then add a resonator and get it managable quiet, then back to the track.

Now he knows - car looks like crap, but it's pretty fun and fast Time to lock and get loose in the corners;-)

Brian - sounds good, but has to be ways out - too much going on right now LOL - Kids just back in school - increased responsibilities at my job - woman is traveling for work soon etc...

I will meet - At the track

Bithlo/Orlando Speedworld is my favorite place to meet - followed by Autocross/Martin racing or Sebring

Let me know when your game

Brian -- A meet might be fun at Bithlo as Bahndrvr suggests but like him I often have limited time as well. Also, I'm not sure I'd race mine, being NA. OSW's oval track would be a different matter. I'll be moving out of state soon in the next month and a half so we'll see. If I grab a GoPro by then it would be a great opportunity for some camera fun.

Bahndrvr -- Overdrive is great, isn't it? It was good to see you too. Not to worry. I understood you were in a crunch yesterday. I left not long after you did. I came in to ask Bob and Pete specifics about installing my R154 soon but I definitely wanted to hear your car fired up and running. It sounds great and it's plenty fast It doesn't look too bad actually. Just chip away at your resto. Once you start working on the interior it will turn around before you know it.

FYI, I'm aiming for Tuesday to take my car back to the A/C guy. My compressor and dryer will be in Monday. Here's hoping the green dye shows up this time.

WEll - looking like i may get some more track time this Friday.

No kids and woman will be out of town for work. I'm picking up the 4.08 diff - decided I didn't want to weld my 3.92 - and will weld it up and try to get it in Before Friday. Even if I don't get the diff in I'm wanting to go because the the tranny is straightened out and the "power" button on the tranny now works and it' shifts ALOT faster - of course I'm ont stock boost which I will remedy again on Wednesday night more than likely. I'm going to have some late nights in the garge this week LOL.

Wednesday will be boost controller wired back in and workign on the Stang in the garage to get it prepped to sell. If I get enough done on it - Thursday will be pick up diff, drain and clean then weld it - while it's cooling I will drop the rear diff and mount up the slicks again. The stang will take alot of my time, but I'm hoping I can make it. I'm also hoping I can get this 4.08 welded up quick - payment sent for it, but i think going from 4.27's to 4.08's with them being locked will help alot as I'm making more boost. Get that controller added back and up it to 16psi again, and Possibly rewire up the Water meth on Thursday night... Now that would be fun, and getting back in the 12's would be awesome

WEll - one step of the equation done - had to go home for a furnature delivery - while waiting, wired the boost controller back up

It's hitting boost cut/fuel cut hard now. Have to turn back on the gain and the boost, guess I'll be reading/tinkering in the evenings. Feels quick then hits wall for the cut. Oh well - and to top it off on the way back to work stopped to get some coffee - and damn thing got stuck in park, guess the shift lock override is broken, took me a bit and some sweat to get that worked out... Shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Well - did alot of things today - Mostly to my Truck and the Mustang, but took a few minutes for the SC right in the middle.

First was routing maintanence on my truck:

Second was wiring for the subs and putting the trunk setup back in partially in the stang, then fixed quite a few trim pieces in the stang.

Then I wired up the 220v in my Garage and broke out the 220 stick welder.

Earlier today I had gotten the 4.08 diff so I could weld it.

Tested it, liked it - was getting good penetration so went at it:

And just because - one of my truck after it was done getting worked on - and one of the intial fab back up of the truck in the STang - haven't bolted back down but put in place and will wired the subs in and Lightning cap as well for the sale of it

Diff all cleaned out and back together - but worked on the stang more and did some mods to the Truck as well this morning.

Will throw diff in one evening this week I hope

Stang is first priority right now though

Hope to have it for sale VERY shortly

Though not for sale - had an offer for the car I'm considering taking.

What would you guys put the value of this car at? It's the 1JZ-GTE VVTI swap, Tranny is strong and works perfectly, needs body panel alignment and paint. All other parts needed I have to include pretty much complete interior to go in car in Multiple colors.

I can't sell it yet - that's why I still have it as I'm daily driving it till my girlfriends New Jeep comes in, but I need to make a counter offer on it and I have a number in my head, what do you all think, BTW- the car has around 128k on it total, the Swap motor and tranny has about 40k on it.

Let me know - and if your following and are interested, now that my interest has been peaked, I may sell it soon as I can.

Trevor,

I remember you mentioning this but I'm sorry to hear you seriously considering letting the SC go. I didn't realize it has only 128k miles. The mileage on the new drivetrain is excellent. Really, the only thing standing in your way is the final paint and some interior work. You have the second best factory engine after the 2JZGTE and the car is very solid mechanically, having seen it twice in person.

So given the vehicle as is and assuming you have no other gremlins like a leaky PS line or anything like that, I'd say you could ask as high as $9.5k-$10k. Maybe closer to $8.5k-$9k would better reflect what needs to be done but the low mileage works in your favor here so... I'm inclined to be in the middle of those two ranges because of that alone. I'd go on ebay and get some used tan interior parts here and there. Nothing crazy. Switching out the seats to SC or Supra types is not too bad.

Still, it's a very nice daily and close to being in top shape. If you're really not feeling it any longer then it's time. You're sure about this?

Oh no - not feeling it yet - considering it due to the offer, but lets say the offer was way lower than that and I was thinking it was less than that - offered me 4800 for it, i said let me think about it - I didn't counter offer, just took it and was stewing on it for a bit. It runs like a TOP, I figure a Maaco paint job to get it all one color and body panels aligned will increase the value quite a bit. The interior - I have most of it honestly, I'm just going to liquid nail it and make the tabs Thanks for the words/input - went a long way towards making me feel better about not responding and not taking it.

Everything is temporary - I'm sure this car will go but I'm not in a huge hurry to do it

Definitely family time first

Yeah... $4800 is not at all in the ballpark for a lower mileage and working 1JZ VVT-i swapped car, auto or manual. I'd hang onto it and focus on your interior and exterior. I've found mine to be a very practical DD car. And yours is better on gas as long as you're off-boost.

Ultimately what will be will be but I totally think it's worth hanging onto and eventually going manual. Either 5-speed will totally change the feel of an SC. R-series of course is what you'd want.

I'm going up to GA to get my R154 rebuilt and put in (my W58 clutch is starting to get to that point) on the 2nd. Coming back on the 4th or 5th. When it's broken in you're welcome to give it a spin
