UPDATE now its a 2JZ swap lol

I've been slacking big time on this. so here it goes. i have a 1992 Lexus SC300. that i aquired from my father due to him owing me money. it sat in my garage for like a year before i decided what to do with it. it has about 172K on the clock.

When he got it. it had a blown headgasket. so the motor naturally siezed up after sitting for 2 years. so i was debating on just throwing another stock 2JZ-GE and getting rid of it. but then i realized. this is basically a poor mans Supra MK4. so im thinking... this can't be hard to do. so lets begin.

i didnt take a lot of pics like i should have. but here we go.

here it is. i already removed the old motor and chucked it. so i dont have removal pics.

here i am starting to degrease the engine bay. it was crazy dirty. I easily used a gallon of Purple Power to clean it, along with a scrubber brush.

so skipping ahead. i didnt have the motor yet, i originally bought a motor from JDM orlando. they suck and ripped me off 25% of my money because i made a mistake in choosing the wrong 1jz swap to buy. i didnt want a chaser swap. i wanted a soarer swap. i dont have pics of all that. but i did find a soarer swap at JDM "TECH" orlando, they had one. so i had to pony up another 700 bux to purchase it.

the chaser swap would of proved to be more of a headache in the wiring department and i didnt want to bother paying someone 600 dollars to fix it. so i just waited till i found a soarer one. in the mean time i did the 5 speed conversion.

you can see i cut the hole in the firewall and all that good stuff.

so i had only 30 days so i had to get this motor in, do the wire extend and crank it up to make sure it was good. i didnt do all the seal changes and what not. u can hate on me later lol but i had to get this done to make sure i didnt buy an anchor weight.

Attachment 431560

took off the clutch fan! dislike!

Attachment 431561

Attachment 431562

time to get it up in the air!

Attachment 431563

low low lowering it.

Attachment 431564

and tada. its set. took me like 15 mins or less by myself.

since the motor was in. i had to do other stuff like the fuel pump. but since it sat for 2 years. the tank was rusted to hell! here is the fuel pump assembly.

Attachment 431553

so im like. okay here goes the tank. it has to go. look inside.

Attachment 431554

Attachment 431555

So i got another one. luckily the junkyard i went too doesnt know the SC tank was behind the trunk carpet lining. so score for me. they didnt' puncture it like they usually do to empty it. 35 bux score for me!

Attachment 431556

the other tank came from a SC400, no difference tho as far as i could tell.

Attachment 431557

much cleaner inside too.

so i installed it. that same week. my walboro 255 came. not a fan of these tiny pumps. but im on a budget. and i'll change it to something better later.

Attachment 431545

hooked it up and ready to install.

Attachment 431546

but first i have to put the other tank back in.

Attachment 431547

Attachment 431548

Attachment 431549

now the pump. rigorous work i tell u

Attachment 431550

then the back cushion install

Attachment 431551

and bottoms. all done. ugh!

this part was fun. Driveshaft shenanigans!

this is what it looks like when you use a w58 into a r154

Attachment 431539

Attachment 431540

so i eventually found the MK3 one on Supra forums.

Attachment 431541

now its a lot closer fitting. i dont have a pic of that. but its good! i also put in the rest of the 5 speed stuff. like shift boot and cleaned the carpet.

Attachment 431542

Dirty!

Attachment 431543

Clean!

now that i had the motor in, fuel pump and driveshaft hooked up. i did the wire extention. i dont have many pics of this. but i'll show u the few i took.

here i am unraveling the harness covers and tape.

Attachment 431534

Attachment 431535

then after i finished extending the body plugs. i wrapped it up. i didnt extend the engine to computer plugs. here are some of the finished pics.

Attachment 431536

Attachment 431537

Attachment 431538

i also did the heater hose piping. its hard to see. but i got it to hook up to the stock heater heater core. lots of brass piping to join hoses.

now i have been reading tons of horror stories with knock sensor wires being extended and soldered and shielded wire issues. so rather than cut them. i decided to make an extention harness.
i went to the junkyard and got the ECU plugs and female plug from the ECU out of a 95 Lexus ES300 with the 1MZ-FE engine. it had the same 4 row/4 connector ecu as the 1jz-gte.

Attachment 431527

Attachment 431528

i was going to use the original wire to extend them and solder them to the backside of the female connector. but this looked a little out of my area of expertise. since if i held the soldering iron on too long it would melt the plastic retainer.

Attachment 431529

Attachment 431530

so i had a shop that does Supra Swaps in town here locally called Hi-Boost Motorsports do the work. i gave him the pinout and let him do the work. it took him about 4 hours. but it came out good to me and it works.

next i attached my flex-a-lite fans to my stock radiator. i wanted to keep the shroud and make it look stealth.

Attachment 431524

Attachment 431525

i got this flex-a-lite temperature controller so my fans could kick on independently.
(of course later on i realized this as a fools errand)

next up here. i started to collect parts for Single Turbo Conversion. i never was going to keep it Twin Turbo. so i got a SS autochrome T3 manifold for the 1JZ. very hard to find by the way.

Attachment 431517

Attachment 431518

then i found a 38mm wastegate off of craigslist.

Attachment 431519

next i got a low mileage GT3582r off of craigslist. i had it checked out. all in good shape. came off a Supra.

Attachment 431520

i had to shave the manifold before i installed it, i never trust them. it was warped pretty bad! the machine shop took off six hundred thousands of an inch to get it flat. ouch!

Attachment 431521

Attachment 431522

next i had 2 bars welded from the turbo flange to the head flange. to add extra sturdiness and avoid future cracking. the turbo weighs like 25 pounds or so. it would easily crack the manifold over time. its hard to see in the pic. but here it is.
