97-SC300: My 2JZGTE build thread (TONS of pics)
*Updated pictures on PAGE 8*
*Updated pictures on PAGE 16* Updated pictures on page 17 Hey SC world. Here’s some pics of what we’ve been doing with the SC over the past several months. Finally getting around to posting the pics. Got to drive the car yesterday and it pulls very hard. It feels like a different car now. Enjoy. Here’s the SC before the operation: http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/5893/dsc4364e.jpg http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/6521/dsc4366l.jpg Pics of the old engine already in the process of being removed. The 2JZGE had a good life, ran like a champ, but it was time to go bigger and better: http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/7861/dsc4367.jpg http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/4615/dsc4368w.jpg http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/9859/dsc4369r.jpg Started to take apart the interior to remove the old ECU, engine harness, glove box, center council, guage cluster, etc. http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/2531/dsc4370t.jpg http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/707/dsc4371.jpg http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7691/dsc4372.jpg Here’s the 2JZGTE when it arrived. Looked relatively clean. I like that it wasn’t power washed so you can really see the “cosmetic” condition of the engine. Most of the coil connectors were broken when the compression test was done by the shop I bought it from. And a bunch of other broken things like the TPS sensor, most of the VSVs, etc. Pretty typical stuff. http://img859.imageshack.us/img859/7072/dsc4375.jpg http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/4804/dsc4376u.jpg http://img828.imageshack.us/img828/603/dsc4379g.jpg http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/4690/dsc4380x.jpg 2JZGE coming out of the car. http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/2994/dsc4388d.jpg http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/7634/dsc4389b.jpg http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7634/dsc4389b.jpg Some pics of the disassembled 2JZGTE. Freshly painted block. Cleaned and degreased the surface for the different oil pan as well as a new Toyota oil pump. Also took care of the (typical) leaking rear main seal with a new OEM unit. A lot of degreasing going on at this point. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7996/dsc4458c.jpg http://img205.imageshack.us/img205/6776/dsc4459l.jpg http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/4533/dsc4460e.jpg Here’s the cylinder head back from the cylinder head shop. Fully cleaned, all new valve stem seals and a 3 angle valve job. The guy really did a fantastic job. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/5945/dsc4461u.jpg http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/3918/dsc4462a.jpg Some progress being made on the engine. Reinstalled the upper oil pan and a few other parts. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/8958/dsc4463w.jpg http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/334/dsc4465n.jpg http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6448/dsc4466k.jpg USDM 550CC injectors from a 20k mile Supra.
