Answer300's GReddy/HKS top end build-up thread
5 Attachment(s)
I was kinda keeping this under wraps but my peeps have peer pressured me to make this build thread. My build is a little different from others because this will be a drift setup which means i need the top end to breathe flawless! The stock GTE bottom end needs no heavy attention so the most that will take place there is the 2mm HKS gasket. The head will be port/polished, HKS 264s', ARP studs, Greddy timing belt, HKS Ex. cam gear, Greddy 720cc injectors, HKS fuel rail, Greddy In. plenum(maybe), HKS Iridium plugs, Greddy T78-33d compressor on the Greddy turbo manifold, and managed with Greddy Emanage Ultimate
The end result by summer will be 575-600whp. so now i guess you want pics right? Still waiting on parts from Trust-Japan and HKS Japan |
Let's do this rookie! That's some real VIP s*** homie. Watch us tear the game up.

Someones been taking some build classes from Jeff lol.... more pics please.. especially drifting when completed..

Lol guys! Yea, Jeff and I spend a lot of time talking about this particular setup. I'm thinking about doing the port and polish myself but if not, Jeff's machinist will knock it out. I'm going to pull the water pump and rear main hopefully today after work.

So many build threads. I think I've seen like 15 already lol. 2012 is the years the 2GS makes a big comeback! :D
Tommy, I think you need to rethink some of the parts if you're truly building a drift setup. I know I know, you are in love with Trust/Greddy parts, but honestly as I said before some of those parts are 15 year old tech. You asked me on the phone before and I told you these greddy turbos are going to be laggy sum-beotches. If you are building a well balanced drift car, you want a very good transient response(quick spool) for those transitions. It gets hard to drift a laggy turbo in a drift car unless you have nitrous to spool the turbo back into efficiency range quickly. Don't know if you're trying to build a true drift car here or just mainly a cruiser. If you're doing a true purpose build I would advice you switch to a newer tech/more modern turbo. If you're just mostly going to cruise and drift maybe once or twice a year then I guess it will be ok. |

Good to see more people doing swaps over just cosmetics with these cars. And another manual swap on board as well.. You'll love it, as it is a completely different vehicle as a stick. I've gotten some confused looks from a few people when ripping thru the gears in my car...
I do kinda miss how casual of a cruiser the car was as an auto, but it does sound sooo much better being able to downshift or hold a gear out as long as you want. |
Nice! Can't wait to see more.

Most definitely man! I've grown tired of the usual ways that the GS is modified. I'm gonna try to pull off the ultimate VIP style/ drift tuned GS. The end result should be one to remember in the years to come.
