My Black on Black 2002 IS300 Sportcross drift street car project (pics inside!)
Ever since i found out about IS300 Wagons i fell in love.
Picked this car up back a few months back. A 2002 black on black IS300 Sportcross with 104k miles for $8000.
I recently purchased some Apexi EXV coilovers, and some Work Emotion XT7's in 18x9.5 +20/+12 all around. Here's the result:
Next thing on the list is a full 5-speed manual swap. Ended up scoring a full 5-speed swap for the car including: w55 trans, clutch pedal, drive shaft, clutch master/ slave cylinder, hard line, M/T ECU, M/T gauge cluster, and wire harness all from a wrecked IS300 5-speed for under $1000.
Ordering a new OEM replacement exedy clutch, OEM trans mount, new pilot bearing, and clutch pivot, and this car should be manual converted by the end of this weekend.
My plans for this car include:
-VVTI 1jzgte swap or 2jzgte
OR, use my existing 2jz bottom end (strong internals), and throwing a vvti 1jz head/ manifolds/ stock turbo/ 1jzgte ecu on top therefore making it a 1.5jzgte (good flowing heads of the 1jz+vvti, with the advantage of 2jz 3.0 displacement and stronger internals) thoughts?
-custom midmount intercooler
-v-band custom 3" exhaust + external wastegate
-Bride Cuga recline able seats + Gradiation upholstered backseats/ door panels
-Project MU rear drum e-brake shoes
-welded diff
i basically want to make a reliable street/ drift car that will stil be comparable to newer m3's/ isf's power wise.
thoughts/ comments welcome!

Nice car! I am not sure how much power your wanting to make but the w55 fall's short in holding power. As far as swappping out the head onto the ge block goes I would simply get a supra tt head gasket and build your own turbo kit becuase that would be much better than trying to source a 1jz head and what not. I believe the supra store has turbo kits for around $1600 if your on a budget but if your really going to be abusing this thing while drifting and wanting to abuse it that w55 isn't going to keep up so I would look into getting a r154 or a v160.

however, i do have some pictures of my 240sx which should suffice
the w55 is just an alternative for now since it's gonna be N/A and stock motor for a while. I figured with 225's in the rear + stock motor, the stock trans should be plenty strong.
Later when i do a turbo setup or engine swap, ill end up going the R154 route.
i find it insane how much r154's and v160's go for now. 10+ year old transmissions are some how worth $2k-6k? gotta be kidding me..
