Ooops, sorry to post between your updates. I thought you were done

Anyone else notice that these cars pretty much have factory, through the floor subframe connectors? Awesome

Haha! Thanks man I felt like I needed a cigar and a ice cold beer after it was all said and done! Installing that v160 wasn't easy by myself but persistence paid off! I still need to install the TRD LSD.as I wanted to install the sc400 diff first to make sure it worked well and wasnt going to be a problem (it came from a local junkyard). The car idles whisper quiet no weird noises or clunks its very smooth.

Keep us updated on how the new clutch feels once it's fully broken in. I wanna get that clutch also.

I know dude I'll probably bring it out once it's tuned and making some decent worthy power

Thanks man, I'm itching to get it broken in so that it will hopefully become more slippable. The pedal is super light, I want to even say it feels lighter than the stock clutch on the w58.

Is there any box-o-rocks v160 noise, or is that stock flywheel keeping it quiet?

I was told that these gear boxes are noisey but at idle I do hear a very slight "box-o-rocks" noise in the interior probably due to not having my console back together. This is hardly noticeable but def is slightly noisier than the w58. From the outside this sound isn't audible and when the clutch is depressed it goes away completely probably from removing load from the flywheel. Keep in mind too that the flywheel was purchased used with unknown mileage but the guys in Waco Texas that resurfaced it for me said it was in great condition and the center freeplay was within oem specs per the fsm. I'm sure a brand new oem flywheel would probably rid all noises but I wasn't willing to drop 650 for one. At take off it does shutter a bit and the amount of slip range is very short (like an on off switch), very light pedal feel. Hopefully the break in period will improve the slip range and slight chatter I'm experiencing now. Time will tell but I was very impressed with how quiet the tranny was and how solid the shifting feels it's very direct without any sloppyness. The car feels totally different I love it much more enjoyable.

6th gear at 70mph my RPM's are now at 2200-2300 versus being at 3k @ 70mph in 5th on the w58 so I'm sure mpg will improve! Putting around in 6th at 40mph or so I didn't feel any vibration under load / acceleration which is great with this 3.5" PHR driveshaft. I was worried that this one piece shaft would cause driveline vibrations like the driveshaftshop ones would on some supras on supraforums. Probably due to it retaining the stock rubber isolator instead of the billet metal piece on the DSS driveshaft.

Sounds great! How are the ratios overall running through the gears vs the w58? Do they feel short?

Ratio is long vs W58 , specially with 3.13 but i think the 3.26 and the V160 makes the perfect combo!

V160 are Noisy going in gears or coming out of gear just like the R154 specially the Soarer/Chaser R154 but i am sure it won't bother.

While you have it apart get some heat shield for the tunnel and wrap that thing , because it will get annoying hot.

Very nice and i am glad i like that tranny and you put it to Good use ASAP!

I can't wait to put mine in and turn up the boost!

That clutch is very nice , it feels just like the Southbend clutches very light pedal feel, almost like stock and will hold 780rwhp.good choice

What's a good heatshield material?

Is it something that is applied kind of like dynamat?

Thanks for the help. Is this something you put on top of the transmission tunnel on the inside of the car just below the carpet? Or do you apply it on the bottom of the transmission tunnel between the floorboard and the transmission itself? Sorry if that sounds confusing. Basically, above the floorboard or below the floorboard?

You put it inside the car around the tunnel and it rejects the heat , you apply it on the inside just like dynamat.

Nice. Do you need to remove the carpet for that?

You guys get the one sided foil or double sided foil version of it?
