Took it on a 30 minute cruise around the city to let Megasquirt do some autotuning. Runs pretty good. Still has a little huccup around 3000rpm, also when going into neutral sometimes it wants to die. Other than that, runs pretty solid!

Wow, great build! Detail work looks great, can't wait to see the FFIM and COP set-up. Great job keep the pictures coming.

Some small updates. Had to rework the shifter but it's done. Took me a lot of time to get this fitted perfectly that minimal trimming was required of the stock black trim piece. You can see I had to cut a small area on the passenger side, that allows me to get to Reverse. And a very small amount on the drivers side for 1st gear. I have a new shifter boot on the way, and Aaron is hooking me up with an Evo 9 MR 6spd shift knob, thanks again man :)

Also big thanks to Ricer Pete. He got the car back within the OEM alignment spec best they could. You can see how bad the rear was (due to the work I did on the rear). So thanks again man, car drives straighter than it ever has!

Glad you got it figured out and installed. Now you need a shifter boot!

Yep, ordered one off eBay yesterday :)

Seriously awesome build, I've been following as a fellow MN guy for a while.
I recently sold my 5spd sc300 and I was looking to pick up another one from out west... I was wondering which shipping company you used to get yours. I've been hearing some horror stories lately which makes me hesitant.

Halon Aug 28, 2013 06:50 PM

I can try and get you their name, they're a local company and the guy who ran my order used to work at Elite if you knew them from back in the day. Yeah it's not a fun ordeal, I learned a lot about shipping a car during this time. You have to have patience, or a fat wallet. I'll get you his contact info though.

Today I decided **** it, start going after the ignition. So removed the old plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, ignitor, and coil. I have my IS300 coils/wires, and ignitior that I've laying around forever. Going to have to run some new wires to Megasquirt and see if I can get it setup correctly!

Out with the old:

Those are going to do you quite nicely!

Halon Aug 28, 2013 08:21 PM

Have you done this ignition swap by chance? I'm trying to figure out how people mount these coils. I can't leave that stock metal tray piece in place because the boots on the coils don't reach the plugs. So I removed the tray, but then it's kinda just the boots holding the whole coil in place which doesn't seem like a good permanent solution.

Just drop them in and they won't go anywhere.

I would replace the blue boots with new ones and you are golden.

Halon Aug 29, 2013 05:35 AM

OK thanks!

99SC42 Aug 29, 2013 05:36 AM

Basically the new boots will get sucked into the Cylinder had and will not pop off.

I've ran them plenty of times and no issues.

Halon Sep 3, 2013 07:01 PM

Shifter boot and Delrin shift knob arrived today. Turned out decent. Going into reverse really stretches the boot to it's limits, and the opening at the top of the boot seems a hair too big. But whatever, good enough I think!

Also I bought some new COP boots like was mentioned. Yeah they are suctioned in there pretty damn hard. I ran two new wires to the MS box for the 2 additional outputs to the ignitor (still need to be soldered into the harness). I also ran a shielded 4 conductor cable from the new ignitor to the coils. I then realized that I didn't have connectors for the coils so those are on order, should arrive any day now. Otherwise I have the ignitor all wired/soldered and ready to go.
