very nice keep us update. I want to do that to my car too but after my SC. Let me know how it turn out

Abear 11-06-06 10:35 PM

Where did you buy that downpipe? Or did it come with the turbo and what not?

Kaiser 11-07-06 05:15 AM

I recommend a TIAL gate. 38mm will probably be enough unless you are going for 450+ wheels but a 44mm will definately do the job.

Oooh...very nice...be sure to keep us updated on your progress :)

i do have a 38mm tial wastegate with a dump valve, yeah the down pipe came from a fellow cl member and i'm only looking for around 300 at the wheels when i upgrade the fuel system.

gs300pnp 11-07-06 05:08 PM

Nice setup... 300 at the wheels? I'd bet you'll get more than that plus more with the right fuel system and fuel management with that turbo. The nice thing is drivablity and reliablity and the punch that the USDM didn't get.

Also, the kit your putting in, will it allow you to pass emissions?

BTW, from what I've seen in other turbo'd engines, you're gonna get some heat in your engine bay from that down pipe, jet-hot coating mitigates some of the heat and costs a few $$'s more than wrapping it. Best of all, looks really nice with polished cam covers when you get the nickel finish.

nice project overall... wish you the best!!!

MIC123321 11-07-06 11:59 PM

300 at the wheels is my goal, if i'm able to push more then that, that would be great, but mainly i want the car to run good and reliable. Will i pass emissions, more then likely no, but we don't have emission tests like some states, so i'll be good. I was going to wait a month and a half or 2 to do the fuel system, afc, things like that, but i decided to do it now instead. I will be getting the tt fuel pump, but will the gte injectors work with the ge harness or any recommendations on injectors that are decent on price? Also, how much boost you guys think the ge engine with a gte head gasket can handle, 10-12psi? I'm also getting the s-afc2 to controller the air/fuel and about the intercooler, is an intercooler an intercooler are you just paying for the name of the product, cause it seems to all work the same to me?

o yeah, i finished the throttle and the intake manifold, next is the turbo manifold and i was thinking of doing the housing of the turbo or is that to much.

Epik 11-08-06 08:27 AM

GTE injectors are side feed rail and the GE injectors are top feed.. like a Honda or Eclipse. You could get some mitsu turbo eclipse stock 450s and use. you will have to change the clips on the harness for them, and depending on the impedance you may have to wire a resistor.

Epik 11-08-06 08:28 AM

also are you planning on using ARP studs on the head? If so I have an extra set slightly used. PM if you are intested.
