question: I have a new SC430 silver and have polished and waxed the paint but I'm still not satisfied w/ the results. I noticed that the other showroom cars at the dealership has a nice smooth finish and touch when you slide your fingers across the paint.
Is there a product where I can use to get that smooth paint surface like a showroom car finish even though my paint is already new..?
any info. would be helpful.
History of products I've used:
--------------------------------------
Zymol Cleaner wax
Meguiar's polish.
Turtle Wax
thanks....teeman3

Well,
Last Week, I finally went to Pepboys and bought Clay Magic (w/ spray lube bottle and chunk of blue clay) and clayed later that evening. It took me 2 hours because I wanted to take my time and make sure that I kneaded the clay so that the existing particles won't go over the paint again while skimming the clay across the surface fo the car.
The hard work paid off and I was really impressed. The surface was smooth as a baby's behind.
I don't know if i did this right but I went ahead and put on a coat of Meguiar's Showroom Glaze.
I usually use the polish, but this time I wanted see the results of the glaze.
It turns out that the glaze and polish are completely different. Well, just by the texture of the glaze and polish and the aroma of the liquid smells different than that of the polish.
I proceeded to experiment w/ the glaze and the results were astonishing. There actually was a glaze coating (somewhat shiny) on the paint.
I'm impressed with this product.
QUESTION:
After claying, do I polish then wax?
After claying, do I polish, wax, glaze?
After claying, do I glaze, wax, polish?
Which is first, second and third?
Thanks......teeman3

The procedure I use for Zaino product (note Zaino is not a wax but a type of polymer). Z18 Clay bar, Z-1 Polish Lok (Surface Prep), Z-5 Polish for Swirl and fine scatches (Glaze), Z-6 Ultra Gloss Enhancer (Quick polish), and Z-2 Show Car Polish for Clear Coat (paint protector). After ever car wash I would use Z-6 to maintain gloss and protection. In you case I would clay, glaze, polish then wax. The glaze is to fill in the fine swirls and scratches. The polish is to smooth and shine the paint (depending on product it may remove the glaze). The wax should be the last coat to protect the paint.

Hope this helps.

BTW, Zaino is a great line of products. One of the best.
And binelus, that's a great shine for Megs Cleaner Wax. Did you do any other steps prior to the wax? If so, what?

Dear Detail Enthusiasts,
Thanks so much for your quick response in helping me become a better and consistent detailer for my own vehicle.
I'm learning as I continue to chat with all of you.
I will definitely try Zaino product line and let you know the results.
Hopefully, if I can get my hands on a digital camera, I will take some pics and post my hard work for all you.
Thanks again......I really appreciate all your comments and suggestions.
This is great!
