Rusty Rotor Caps
Hello. I just got new rear rotors on my is250 and the caps/hats between the rotor and rim are completed covered in rust. It looks like ****. Anyone else have this happen? What can I do? Paint over the rust or remove the rust then paint?

Get some coated rotors. You can rust soak your rotors and paint them but for the cost may as well get new rotors for example a Centric coated rotor is around $50.

thanks! The rotors are actually fine it's the cap that goes on the rotors that is rusty.

Get new rotors, completely degrease them, high temp primer, high temp paint, and wait for it to fully cure before installing (read instructions on the cans). Or buy a set of rotors that come with coated centers (EX. stoptech, project mu, dba ).
If the painting process isn't done properly, it'll flake off. Here is what my setup looks like: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7866/...0086b8fa_h.jpg |
