So... What about Cleaning that Intricate F Sport Grill?

So I washed my F Sport and stared in disbelief at all the nooks and crannies on that grill. "What have I gotten myself into?"

How do you F Sport owners make this job easy but complete? Maybe something like these?

Spray APC on the grill. Let it dwell for a minute. Foam up the entire car and pressure wash everything. Easiest way to get bug guts etc. out of hard to reach areas on the grill. You'll still have to wash the grill with a mitt and brush(es) to get it 100% clean but pressure washing it first helps tremendously.

APC? Isn't that a little harsh, and wouldn't it break down the wax/coating on the paint? And what brushes would you use? All those nooks and crevices are making me wince, just thinking about my weekends...

I would just use your regular car soap... let it soak for a bit but dont let it dry, and then use a Speed Master wheel brush.

I was planning on trying out McKee's Hydro Blue Sio2 Coating on my wheels, so I think I'll try to coat the grill as well. Pretty skeptical about the durability and claimed performance of this since it's so easy to apply. I strongly believe in "there's no free ride" and "if it sound too good..." so something this easy can't work as well as they claim... right?

I'll find out for myself in the coming weeks.

In the meanwhile, I found some tube cleaners I'm going to try on those nooks and crannies...

Hahaha, I too remember that “what have I gotten myself into?” moment the first time I washed my GS. I just use a foaming cleanser that I let dwell for a bit and scrub with a brush similar to a wheel cleaning brush, but much softer. It’s such a chore but it’s worth it when it’s all clean and sparkly and you’re able to tell that the grille is not actually piano black plastic but a dark and very metallic gray paint Lexus uses.

What car wax? You mean you actually spent time waxing that grill?

Don't worry about it too much, just APC to break down the bugs, wash and apply carpro hydro. The whole thing should just take a few minutes tops. Regular car soap is not very good at breaking down bugs.
