A quick update....I tracked down a company that cleans cars w/odors for dealerships in a 3 state area. While they generally work with companies that they service pretty much every week, they are going to squeeze me in next week and do a super deep clean of all surfaces to remove any residual nicotine. Sounds like a deal to me for $100, and they said if they don’t get it all that they will do a 2nd cleaning for free. The ozone treatment was a failure, so I am going to give this a shot.
p.S could you please give an update on how you eventually got to resolve your issue?

Heres what I do to get rid of the smoke smell from cars, change any filters, cabin filter etc to make sure its not lingering there. You also need to carpet vaccum steam everything from the bottom to the head liner as smoke will stay in there.
after all that hit it with an ozone a few times.

you need to go to Lowes and get those damprid hangers and put 3 of them in your car and hang them up until the bags are full of water. change all filters. try to shampoo carpets, clean everything in side. then do ozone treatment a few times, use a car freshener every few weeks.

I've made this mistake once (bought a smoker car initially not noticeable due to detailing). Spent way too much time and effort on it and ended up getting rid of it.
IMO, this can never be completely fixed.

I agree, you will never fully get rid of it. This is why now I always request a 3 day test drive with a used car before purchasing.the method I said will get rid of about 80% of the smell. but on hot days the smell starts to creep again, colder days I couldn't smell any smoke.
