Default Bra Removal

Now that I have your attention...I have a clear bra on my '08 GS350. I bought the car used so I have no idea how long it has been on the car. The issue is I have a white wax line at the separation point between paint/bra. It will not come off. The poor appearance is mostly caused by rubbed edge of bra. Would it be safe to remove the old bra after possibly 10 years?
I have zero experience here and seek your expertise guys.
Regards!

Have you tried a toothpick and some detail spray to clean up the edge?

Thanks Charley, yes the edge is messed up from frequent waxing over the years. My main issue is whether or not to remove the old bra. In other words, will it come off in one piece, will it break apart, etc. I am hoping someone has experience in removing bras that have been applied 10 yrs ago.

Not sure on removal of old PPF but, I just had my GS ExPeled and my installer told me that he uses a heat gun to remove old film. I don't think you'll have any trouble if you try that. Just take it slow when removing it.

How to Safely Remove Clear Bra

Steam is excellent if you have it available to you. Even an inexpensive steamer will do the trick.

^^^Ditto, I've use a vapor steam cleaner, but like mentioned above an inexpensive steamer (it'll just a take a bit longer, but you'll achieve the same results) will work, and work well. A steamer will also make easy work of cleaning the edges of built-up wax residue if that's what you want to do as well.

I agree with the last two post. Buy or borrow a steamer and put it in the sun for a several hours before removal if you have a sunny climate. Peel very slowly when removing the PPF.

I agree with others. Heat/Steam can help quite a bit. I prefer steam to a heat gun for removal. Parking it out under the hot Sun in advance will also help.

Here' a good steamer that also has a lot of good household applications, so you won't be buying for a single purpose. Here' a good steamer that also has a lot of good household applications, so you won't be buying for a single purpose.

The angle of the lift can make a huge difference as well. Pulling back at a 45 degree angle is better than folding the film back on itself and pulling at high angle. This \____ not /_____

Now, on a clear bra that old, you might run in to other issues - mainly, the film peeling in tiny pieces. If you run in to this, it may take some extra work. Plastic (paint safe), scrapers and some adhesive remover.
