Default Advice on cleaning chrome wheels

Hey guys, I'm trying to clean up an old set of wheels before I sell them. The lips are chrome and have some etching in them. I tried some mothers billet polish on them and it helped a lot, but I wanted to see if you guys had any other recommendations.

I would hit it a couple more times with the polish to see if you can get anymore out of it...

Your next step would be to get more aggressive with either sanding or with a more dedicated metal refinishing tools (which may require disassembly of the wheel for best results).

If I was keeping them, then I would consider splitting them to clean them. The mothers billet polish made them good enough to sell.

I had another question about cleaning wheels, and I didn't feel like making another thread. I have a set of rims that are split, so I wanted to give them a deep cleaning while I have the opportunity.

I was looking for advise on what is the stiffest brush I could use before I'd risk scratching the finish. What kind of brushes do you guys prefer to use while cleaning wheels?

I'm trying to get the dirt out of the crevices.

For a crevice that is that tight, I would just use a foam swab or q-tip to really get in there with either a cleaner or a polishing product.

Are the foam swabs stiffer than a standard q-tip? I wonder what tip would work the best. They're a little too pricey to order every size.

Yeah the swabs have a plastic stick rather than a cardboard stick like a q-tip.

2 months later, I'm still cleaning the same rim.

The swabs dipped in some wheel cleaners works wonders.

I also went over the faces of the wheels with carpro reflect + orange light cutting pads to remove some light etching and scratches.

I was thinking about this comment while explaining to my friend why I used special swabs to clean a rim, and I remembered that they sell q tips with plastic sticks instead of cardboard at the 99 cent store. They're horrible for cleaning your ears, but might be perfect for this situation. lol
