I used to be able to buy low surface tension soap that would sheet off the car and in effect dry itself. A few years ago I had a setup that would filter the water and had a special wand to spray on the self drying soap. It was somewhat elaborate, but it worked great if the directions were followed. Alas, it was discontinued, can't remember the name.

Any currently available products that self dry?

Deionized water systems are your best bet. The most popular consumer systems are made by CR Spotless.

That might be worth $350 if I owned a detailing shop, but it's a bit pricey for home use.

Just finished washing mine - in sunny Arizona, in direct sunlight - with the CR Spotless I bought last month. One of the best investments I've ever made.

Unfortunately that is probably one of the cheapest spotless water solutions available to consumers. As mentioned, they do work very well.
