Quixx experiences
I have a few squiggly white very thin scratches on my door of my black car, you can't really feel them with your finger nail and they look like they are the same depth as the paint but they are noticeable. They have been polished several times and don't go away or become less noticeable, adding touchup would just make it look worse and stand out more because they are so fine and are only at the surface/feel smooth. I just decided not to bother with them because I would likely just make it look worse if I tried sanding/compounding but I saw a commercial for Quixx scratch repair today and in the commercial they supposedly were able to fix what looked like the same exact scratches I have. I was curious and looked it up on Amazon and they had some pretty decent reviews.
I am normally very skeptical of products and commercials/marketing of these types of products but was wondering what experiences members may have had with Quixx, what technology do they use to fill in permanent white scratches or make them disappear without any color matched paint and does it last? Is Quixx just a normal sanding/compounding/polishing kit or is it using a more unique technology to fill in scratches? |
139 1-star reviews. Sounds like a winner. |
... It says right in the instructions that it is simply a compound and polish.

Unless I hear differently I don't think I will be spending money on something that seems more like just a compounding/polishing kit which I have plenty of, just wanted to see if there was anything to it, any experiences. |

Yeah I see that but the overall rating is still 3 1/2 stars and it had over 200 5 star and 97 4 stars, normally when a product is crap or a gimmick it is rated much lower like their paint repair pen.

Physically, there are 2 principal ways of fixing scratches:
1. Leveling out the clear coat so it looks smooth. This is what compounding and polishing does. 2. Fill in the gap. This is touch up paint does. Wax/sealant sometimes have the fill in effect temporarily. Some of the products use fancy terms and description but the bottom line is, if it can fix scratch, it is either following principal 1 or 2. |
