I had the large PFM towel in my hands a few weeks ago while I was visiting the detailing.com store to pick up some mico restore and raven gloves. I was told the 16x16 towels were the exact same material. I opted to buy those instead because it was $16 cheaper, and I justified cheaping out by telling myself I only wanted to know if the towel lived up to the hype. Later that day I washed a car, and it was instant regret (which leads to my most recent purchase... lol.)
The 16x16 towels include 2, so it is more than enough to dry a midsize sedan. I was able to dry my Honda Odyssey with 2 16x16 towels. My SC only takes 1 16x16 towel after blow drying the car.

I tried the large griots pfm towel and car pro reset today. The large towel performs great, but after using both I prefer using the 16x16 towels. They're easier to wring out water and they don't get as heavy when they're full. As the towel became full, it was becoming harder to handle with 1 hand. It unfolded a few times and almost touched the ground.
I noticed that car pro reset isn't as slick as Gyeon Bathe +, but the soap leaves the coating completely refreshed. I like the results that I'm seeing so far. Next step will be to try reset on a car that is protected with a sealant.
Did you have a lot of loose strands from the red stitching when you opened the package? I noticed this on the 16x16 towels and the large towel. It's annoying to have to cut off loose strands on a towel that cost almost $40.

No intervention required....that's normal. At least that's what my shrink told me.
