Default Tint Rust Spots on Exhaust Tips.

Washed the GS today and finally tackled the exhaust usually i just soap and water but today i polished.. I hit the Blitz with Optimum Metal Polish and i still noticed tiny rust spots in certain areas.Mainly on the tips.

Do i need to use something else? steel wool, metal wax ? I'm afraid to used steel wool as it will scratch but this might be the only way...

Thanks

Is those orange specs are really rust or iron deposits embedded into the metal tips, try something like Iron-X or Iron-Cut to see if it bleeds and removes it. Most of the time it will. If not, than I'd suggest the steel wool route since you said a metal polish with MF towel didn't "cut it".

If you're worried about the steel wool being too aggressive, start with a #0000 steel wool which is super fine. I usually get some metal polish and use the steel wool as if it was a pad and rub the polish into the tips with the wool. Comes out 100% all the time.

They are tiny rust deposits almost like little flakes on the tips.. Some did come off with my Towel and finger nail but i will try the steel wool i guess.

If you're concerned with synthetic steel wool scratching chrome try a 3M delicate duty scuff pad (White) its equivalent to 4000 grit finishing paper and a mild polish (Happich Semichrome Polish, or Autosol or P21S® Multi-Surface Finish Restorer) to prevent re-oxidation and provide a water-resistant coating and restore lustre

I usually use a 3M sanding pad and then polish the heck out of them. Really the only way to get them looking really good. I like Meguiars metal polish.
