Default Cleaning bugs off front bumper suxs

This is a constant "fight" in Louisiana. Is there a product that I can buy or apply that would make my life easier?

Before anyone says install a clear bra, NO ONE in a 200 mile Radius installs these clear bras.

I have to clean the front bumper everyday. I have had certain bugs damage my front bumper before.

Any advice or Help or do I need to move North? LOL

I use a two pronged approach. First I use a good sealant and secondly, I follow up weekly with Meguiar's D156 (a.k.a. Ultimate Quik Wax) which keeps the paint slick and slippery. I wash weekly and use this Meguiar's Body Brush brush to remove bugs.

Jim,

Great point on the sealant. Having a durable wax or sealant on the paint is HUGE. You can easily wash off most bugs off the paintwork once it has been sealed or waxed. Not hard agitation should be required for a good 90% of it.

How does the Ultimate Quick Wax react with Collinite waxes? I'm still using Collinite on some family member cars so I was wondering if using the D156 would not negatively impact the Collinite that's on the paint. I have alot of this wax that I was just going to get rid of, but now I think maybe not.

I recommend a mild polish, sealant and wax one every 3-4 months. Use a car wash with a paint conditioner.

I second this, the more protection (wax/sealant) on the car the easier it is for things not to stick and to clean!

I recommend this as well. Here is a video of the product working in action.

Really? Do you find these thin towels plush and soft so as not to damage the paint? Do you think they are softer than a microfiber towel and thus less likely to scratch your paint? Do fabric softener sheets contain chemicals that are good for the paint?

How is it you came to the decision to use these towels? Just curious!

Dryer sheets were recommended in a car care forum discussion. When wet they "soap" up. No apparent damage. Just don't let the soap dry as it is difficult to remove.

Example:

Can anyone verify that with a CD test? I'm still having my doubts since I can't test it on any old CDs I have that are useless

They are to thin to be safe to my way of thinking. I'll stick with a MF and some QD. With a MF, any hard bug pieces will be pulled up into the nap and not scratch as easily as with a thin dryer sheet. QD also supplies lubricity and cleaning.

In trying to find out what is in these softener sheets I came across this links:

Chemicals Found in Fabric Softeners
http://www.ehow.com/list_6130016_che...softeners.html

The Toxic Danger of Fabric Softener and Dryer Sheets
http://ezinearticles.com/?The-Toxic-...heets&id=16953

Fabric Softeners and Your Liver

Yikes, these things might be among the most hazardous items in your home.

If you really want to use them on your car you probably should wear rubber gloves.
