What is the best leather cleaner, not conditioner for our cars? I have tan interior and have noticed a little discoloration over the years of dirt getting ingrained into the leather, so who better to ask the the Lexus family!!!!

Where are you guys buying this stuff or is it direct from them the only way?

Will it actually remove the dirt from the leather cracks?

The absolute best is leatherique prestine clean and the rejuvenator oil.

However, it's extremely expensive and it's not a quick wipe on/wipe off product that takes 25 minutes to do the seats. It requires a procedure and then needing the car to sit in the sun after application.

Is Lexol the same as the Lexus Leather product you can obtain at Lexus dealer or the two different products...little confused with this. Just did major detailing---Zaino products on my Lexus and wife's SUV but need to do leather seats--conditioning preferably next weekend ! Any suggestions welcome.

my buddy works at the local lexus dealer here in indy and they always use technicians choice cleaner. they also used that when i worked at porsche.

meguiars wipes arent bad if your looking for something with easy availability and low price..

Mink oil works wonders by them on your leather

First clean with foam interior cleaner, then spray and wipe with the mink oil using a microfiber towel

thks NSH, do you know if they have a protectant as well. Want a cleaner and protectectant cream of some sort. Many sourses mention the conditioner doesnt really do much with Lexus seats. any event will look one you mentioned and go from there..thks again for response.

Hi there Greg,

I am still a bit confused as to what types of leathers the leatherique twins are effective on? Do they work for both coated and non-coated leathers?

I bought this from you guys last year and was meaning to try it on my GS430 that has a black interior. Will it be effective?

Also, something else I have been wondering about,
After using prestine clean to clean the seats, what would you recommend to use after that step? Some sort of leather conditioner to protect the seats?

I use Megiuars. Its very good. I havent used it on my Lexus yet but it worked wonders for the seats in my BMW.

Leather Master Strong Leather Cleaner or WooliteHE mixed 1:6 work very well for cleaning. As with any cleaner you use, be sure to wipe down with a towel that has been rinsed in water and wrung out to remove all traces of the detergent from the leather. Don't over wet the leather especially if it is perforated and around the seams.

Conditioners don't do much that is good for protected leather. You might want to try a leather protection product instead. The difference is like the difference between a glaze for paint and a sealant. Just like a glaze, conditioners are oily and sit on the surface. They leave a film on the leather that may feel buttery or slippery, but they attract and hold dirt and cause accelerated soiling and wear. Protectors, OTOH, are sealants that dry and seal the surface and prevent dye transfer, and since they leave no oily or slippery residue, protected leather stays clean longer which reduces the abrasive effects of dirt.
