Silicone Cleaners
We have a 2011 RX with a black interior and a 2008 CTS with a black interior. Last summer I had the dealer do a complete detail in the CTS inside and out. I really like the look of the interior and asked what they used. Well as it turn out it is a generic product called "Shine It Silicone lubricant." It is in an aerosol can and contains Heptane, Acetone, Propane, Butane, and Silicone Fluid. It is to be sprayed on a clean surface and wiped off. Although it makes everything look and smell great, I am wondering if it is good for the interior surfaces in the long term. The can says that it is good for the dash, console, vents and door jambs. I purchased some Meguairs Quick Interior Detailer and used it over the weekend on both cars, but was disappointed with the results. It was completely dull, but I think that is what it is supposed to look like. Any thoughts from all of the experienced detailers out there?
