Default Keyed -- Repairing with touch-up paint

My grey metallic color ES got keyed several times, resulting in white lines along the doors where the paint used to be. I applied touch-up paint from the dealer. The color is close enough, but my sloppy use of the brush resulted in a swath of raised painted area extending beyond the gouged area. Can this be removed by using an orbital sander? I'm leery of using a power tool on my car. Also, is anything other than wax needed to make the touched up areas shine (e.g., a clear coat paint)?

Touching up paint is very tricky and it's seldom perfect. Your best bet is to try and see if you can polish it out by hand. My guess would be, no. You may want to take it to a reputable bodyshop and see if they can properly wetsand and polish that area. The best option is to have a bodyshop repaint the area keyed.

I would not use an orbital sander....

^ Agreed. Usually when you can see white, repaint is generally required. Check the NELOC section for a reputable bodyshop if you don't already have one.

I actually prefer using an orbital sander like the PC. Speed 6 + 4in orange pad + Menz Power Gloss has never failed me yet. Depending on your skill, you can make it blend in quite well. It just takes time thats all since you have to go slow
