I'm thinking of getting a steam cleaner for my car interior and house use but is it safe for the leather?

no i would not do that you could put the dye out of the leather. find a good leather cleaner like leather master or leathique

from the videos i saw on youtube, it cleans dirt off easily but didn't know they would remove dye out of the leather. How bout the panels or plastics??

I have a commercial steamer and use it on leather ALL the time and never had any problems. It makes cleaning the interior a breeze. I use a terry cloth and wrap it around the triangular brush attachment. Watch the heat though in case some surfaces are more brittle than others.

Also apply the conditioner right after when the seats are still warm as they absorb it better.


Steamers can be used on all surfaces but beware of headliners as too much could loosen the glue.

I bought a small handy steamer to use for removal of my tints and I got curious with it and started cleaning my interior after I removed my tints. My last dare I was anxious about was my leather... so I did one quick steam on one spot on my seats and man it was a noticeable cleaning the steamer did, I saw the dirt just lifted up and slide so I wiped it and steamed a certain portion of the seats and conditioned it. I didn't notice any negative or flaws towards the leather but the noticeable cleaned from dirty was like a 1/10, 1 being really clean 10 is the dirty rate of the leather. I finally had a hot sunny day so I used my leatherique. It did just the same job as steam cleaning but I'd rather use leatherique because of the money and rated its got =)
