Prevent Peeling Paint from Getting Worse
Paint on bottom molding is starting to peel on 2015 GS350. About a 1-inch strip. It's inconspicuous so not visible unless you know where to look. I don't mind it, however I want to make sure it doesn't get worse or start to rust. It's not just the clear-coat because it looks almost like paper and I can see the black steel underneath it in the spots where it's come off completely. What's the most inexpensive way to go about fixing this? Could I just spray it with a couple layers of clear coat to seal what's left and call it a day?

That panel looks to be plastic don't have to worry about rust. Either that has been repainted or the factory did not prep the surface correctly or maybe it was bent/scraped at one point. You could try scraping away the loose stuff then hit the bare spot with a rattle can in your colour.
