Default bird doo doo

Watch out for bird poo poo left on paint for several days!

My CPO Lexus (smokey granite mica) was delivered at night with a couple of bird crap splotches on hood. The following day I discovered it and returned to the dealer where they documented the problem and had their detail shop do a quick removal of the surface poo poo. Some minor staining still exists on the paint. In a week they will take a look at the car again and decide what to do. I'll see what happens then.

Yep its like acid on paint work, wetsanding would be the best way to remove it.

**** its just like antifreeze, don't EVER spill antifreeze on your paint; it will tear the clear coat up.

Ouch, won't that destroy the clearcoat?

Your going to lose some clear coat, but if the bird crap has been left too long then you wont be able to polish it out.

I always carry a bottle of quick detailer and remove bird poop ASAP.

2nd! That stuff is very acidic and can do some real damage if left on the paint for too long. It'll definitely etch into the clear if not removed. Whether or not you actually need wetsanding is going to be on a case by case basis though. It would have to do some serious etching to require wetsanding. Most will just polish out w/ a mild abrasive if its not left to sit on the paint for too long.
I carry around some Spray n Wipe or ONR in a small 2oz bottle in the glove box w/ a microfiber towel for those times when I need to do an emergency bird crap removal. Definitely a good idea imo.

I do the same, and keep a bottle in the trunk too. But the dealer left the poo poo on the car for a few days while it was on the lot, after being CPO-certified.

Yep sprinklers with hard water can leave spots.

Bakersfield! I call it the armpit because it gets sooo hot here during the summer. Plus certain parts of the outlying areas stink due to all of our agriculture/cattle development.

One day, I parked my black beauty in a well shaded area so I could enjoy my sandwich, and boom! Some bird took a massive load on my hood. It was so big that I heard it drop on my car. Boy oh boy was it a nasty mess to clean up. Thankfully it didn't eat thru my clear coat.

Sorry about your luck.

There are different variations of bird crap too as some are not too destructive like the small mostly all white spots left by smaller birds and then you have the really bad stuff left by a few species that is just terrible and seems to eat and etch into the finish after just a few minutes. Last winter something crapped on my rear bumper and spoiler, it was really large, partly clear with a little red in it and had some visible small seeds that were undigested. I removed it when I saw it but it was too late, it had already made a pretty bad mark in the spoiler(it is aftermarket I believe as it has a brake light and I have another center brakelight on top of the trunk,so I am not sure if it had a decent clearcoat.) I washed the car, put wax on it, and even polished it but the mark is still there, it is kind of a darker mark then the rest of the paint. The really bad thing was that I had a coat of Collinite 476S on the whole car and it ate through that so that was some very tough acidic bird crap. My dads car and mine have unfortunately been hit on the hood and roof by the same species I guess in the past because they both have a few etching spots. Not sure if it is a species native to Alabama as I see many cars with these same etchings. I hate birds.

"Color-sanding" as performed by a body shop was mentioned by a detailer that I talked to today.
