Default Question about light scratches on headlights after restore

I posted in the main thread about a week ago, but I haven't got a response yet. Can you guys/gals help me out?

I was able to make my headlights look a lot better then before, however I still a little haze/minor scratches. I went from 1500 grit,to 2000 grit, then Meguiar's plastic cleaner, then polish.

However, on the headlights, I can still see very light scratches from the sandpaper, which I think is causing the haze.

What should I do?

Do I need to use 2500 grit sandpaper, or sand it longer with 2000? Should I use a scratch removal product?

Thanks for the help!

I would say to finish w/ something finer, like 2500, and/or polish w/ something stronger than the plastic cleaner before using it again.

Stronger plastic polish will do the job. Might try PlastiX for one.

Meg's plastic cleaner is not very abrasive.

If you can't manage to get rid of it, let me know where you are located in SoCal. I've done quite a few client's cars and my own by polishing it out. I also have some 3000 gritt to use if you are close by. Good luck man!

By the way, the 3000 gritt sandpaper that I use is found at autodetailingsolutions.com

The higher gritt you use before using PlastX or whatever, the more clear it should be after since they will be super fine scratches instead of fine scratches

Sounds like the plastiX wasn't strong enough to remove the scratch marks from the sand paper.

First use a cross hatch pattern when you sand. Sand the 1500 grit in one direction then sand in at a right angle with the 2000 grit. Horizontal with 1500, vertical with 2000. Then use a machine polisher and a more aggressive polish to remove the scratches.
