Is this a good buffer??
 

Looking for a good buffer, I borrowed a rotary one from my neighbor but I heard that you could mess up your paint in seconds if not handled correctly. So I'm in the market for a buffer to do my cars with. I was looking online and found this one from autogeek for $119, I wanted to know if this is any good or just another piece of junk!!

The 7424 is a good dual action machine. Very similar to the UDM. Check to see if it comes w/ a backing plate and/or any pads for that price. Usually that machine requires the additional purchase of a flexible backing plate and some pads.
Heres a link to the UDM if you're interested. As I mentioned, its almost identical to the pc7424. They gave it slightly more power, included a flexible backing plate, white polishing pad, backing plate tool and canvas carry bag. W/ your forum discount, the machine alone comes in at around 128.00 and includes everything mentioned :)

oh, and depending where in Jersey you are, you can come pick it up, saving you on s/h charges and you wont have to wait 3 or 4 days for them to get it to you :p

I'm actually down that way pretty often too. My father lives down off exit 98, so I'm always passing you... no problem bringing what you need w/ me one time and meeting up :)

The PC 7424 is actually the benchmark when it comes to DAO. It's been around a while and a few companies actually just rebadge/rename the 7424 and try to sell it as theirs. I have had mine for quite some time. I would recommend it. It works nicely with Meguiar's Professional lineup of polishes and waxes.

yes you can mess up your paint with the rotary but if you keep it moving, that shouldnt' be an issue. rotary correcting power is 1000000x better than PC's too

Whereabouts in Jersey? I'm now seriously considering getting a Porter Cable. This cheapo roatry buffer that I have now don't cut it especially on my black car.

I'm in Cranford, (but I'm in Brielle and Bordentown relatively often too if you needed something and wanted to meet up in one of those two if they're closer.)

autogeek is the same place i got mine from but i bought the makita buffer.
i bought a makita buffer when i was 18 years old and now i am 34 i lost it in an accident in 03 that left me paralyzed from the waste down.so it lasted that long
it probably still worked but it was pinned behind the seat so i couldn't get it out.
so i bought another one since the last one i had lasted do long.but back to the subject.the makita buffer is all around good buffer.but for some reason i don't like the porter cable 7424.plus the other reason i went with the makita is that you can also convert it to a sander/grinder and yes it does have variable
speed.
