Tree Sap - What will remove it?
 

I was parked underneath a tree this weekend that decided to leave me about 10 nice little drops of sap on the roof/windshield of my car. Anyone have any suggestions on how to go about removing it?

Get turtle wax's bug and tar remover. Just spray it on, let it sit, and wipe it off.

It works like a giant eraser. Try and you will see.

Water downed Simple green works good for me. When you wash your car, use it on those trouble spots.

i think the simplest and cheapest method is rubbing alcohol. ive used it with no problems and gets tree sap out instantly

We have this happen to cars at our shop every so often, the easiest way to remove it is plain old simple hot water...

I can say that rubbing alcohol is amazing. one or two wipes and it is all gone.

ICE to freeze it....then it will come off real easy.....

I'll say this for probably the umpteenth time, hopefully some here aren't sick of hearing it...

Sap is used to make shellac.

What thins/dilutes shellac?

Denatured alcohol.

Isopropyl will also work well. A soft cotton cloth or microfiber with gentle pressure is all that's needed, the alcohol will dissolve it quickly.

You'll see a white haze after the sap dissolves, which is the sap itself after breaking down, just use a cleaner wax or polish to remove it.

Be careful with clay because the sap may break off and cause scratching if you're not lubricated enough, or careful enough with the pressure.

or i use a good quick detailer and it comes right off !!:)

Meguiar's clay bar with lots of quick detailer sprayed on for efficient lubrication.

Whatever method you decide to try, do it as soon as possible. If you get lazy or forgetful, the sap will start to eat into the clearcoat.
