there's no real point to use this method on the grill since the grill isnt metallic at all. if you really want a black chrome effect then you could try sanding, priming, and painting with a metallic coat (silver, mirror finish) and then following that with a black tinted clear coat followed by a LOT of coats of heavy duty clear.

or you could buy a black chrome grill off of ebay.

stupid idea to do it on the headlights.

Projectors in a black chrome housing would not be beautiful? 'Stupid' might be a little strong don't you think (maybe not for OEM HIDS)?

sorry, i misread and didn't see you say housings, doing the housings will be fine, I had thought you meant just headlights, meaning the covers.

Sandpaper is supposed to do the trick. I know this because I painted my badges and forgot to primer (first time painting something) and they turned out bubbly.

keep in mind that if you use sandpaper thats of low enough grit to take the shine off the emblems, you're not going to get that pearlescent finish desired for the black chrome/black pearl type of look.

dont use sandpaper..if you get the Tamiya paint, pick up a can of the polycarbonate adhesion promoter..they sell it at just about any hobby shop or craft store..I have been using the stuff for years with my r/c hobbies and it works great..just prep good with some denatured alcohol and you will get the desired look.

I tried painting mine but it turned out black. Is it because I did too much coats?

Since we all don't need a whole can of this spray we should start a CL lend it program or something....save even more money
